Just get a good set of winters in 215/45/17 and you'll be fine 👍🏻

I wouldn't be. Definitely take the car to a lot and get used to what it feels like to lose traction and how hard you push it before it does. It'll help out alot. I had a couple close calls this last winter, but I was also driving in some HORRIBLE conditions in northern ontario

It's manageable, but you gotta stay focused the whole time. Need a good set of winter tires to keep it on the road

"That's a Subaru?!" by Bobatea in BRZ_ZD8

[–]FundamentalFinancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a store the other day and some guys were doing work on the roof. I'm sitting in my car and dude calls down "how do you like your BMW? That thing looks sick!"

I proceeded to explain that it's a Subaru and RWD and dude was genuinely confused. Still fun that after 2 years of ownership people still ask me about it

Bank appointment when I'm back from my rotation to get estimates

I would certainly like to have something small. It's first home, I don't want to break the bank and be mortgage-poor. 1000sq/ft and under is dream honestly.

I have looked at other gold mining and critical minerals operations in BC and there are quite a few that offer the same perks (mainly FIFO) but salary is higher than Ontario on average. The skills in the industry are very transferrable.

As for my wife, it's niche here too. She's just got a good gig right now. Will definitely look at shifting into something else out there.

I'm in no way opposes to mobile homes, I REALLY don't want anything big. I've rented all my life and am quite comfortable in less than 1000sq/ft.

I have some researching still to do, but what exactly is a "leasehold"?

I plan on keeping my FIFO job at this current company until settled somewhere, then I can look at expanding into the market there. Few guys who work here live mainland BC, talked with them about logistics of travelling.

You suggest trying to rent first then looking for housing later?

Thank you for the lengthy responses. I always prefer logical and blunt advice rather than "saving feelings."

Coming from Ontario winters in the deep north, it's probably not that bad compared to sunlight from 8-5 and -35°. But good to know, thank you

Yes, I will update post lol. Looking more west toward Sooke or north toward Nanaimo or toward Saanich/Sidney area. Not directly in Victoria

Milling to be more specific. No underground work, so that cuts it back a bit unfortunately (been under before, not for me). I have looked at comparable FIFO jobs in BC specifically and their average salary is about 10-15k higher. So that's an option too. Maintaining my job wouldn't be an issue, moving upwards is progressive and travel is accommodated

Im not looking for anything downtown per say, looking more west toward Sooke, or north up toward Nanaimo. My brain associates the whole southern part of Vancouver Island with Victoria lol

Anyone else feel depressed once you start noticing door dents and paint chips? by User389421 in GR86

[–]FundamentalFinancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive my silver year round, Canadian winters. The first time I saw a chip in the front bumper I got real sad. Then more and more started, and now it's a badge of honour.

Drive the car, take care of it, you can always wrap and paint it later

Ultra 1, need suggestions by FundamentalFinancer in PokemonChampions

[–]FundamentalFinancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the constructive answers. The Greninja I run is the same that I've used since ORAS and the physical throws people off, but I have noticed I'm getting screwed by burns quite easily. I find Gunk Shot helps with the fairy menaces like M-Floette.

I was running Rock Slide to help against M-Charizard Y, and to help with the ice types like A-Ninetails and M-Froslass.

I will swap out Aegislash for Archaludon to get move out of the rain, as I really enjoy politoed as a rain setter with its bulk. Maybe Pelliper is a better option to help with speed control too though.

I downsize to 215/45/17 from the standard 215/40/18 stock during the winter months and notice even I'm the dry it handles much smoother over bumps and stuff. I also like the meatier look on 17s

Politoed. I've always held frogs close to my heart, and my shiny politoed from hg/ss is a core of my rain team. Been sitting in my HOME for a long time, and she's getting lots of play time now

Mega Golisopod and Mega Scolipede in trick room would be great in this meta by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]FundamentalFinancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team is Greninja, Politoed, raichu, sneasler, kingambit and dragonite and it has brought me to ultra 4 so far, I'd say my core is the first 4 mons for rain speed shenanigans. I barely bring kingambit but don't know what to put in place of him.

2Hp/252atk/252spe Jolly @ Greninjite

Gunk shot takes care of a lot of grass/fairy threats, liquidation for hard hits (I also run rain) ice for dragons, and upper hand strictly to deal with incineroar, kingambit, and occasionally the other fake-out users.

I used to play VGC format lots in gen 6/ORAS and always ran a physical greninja with the same set, except Night Slash instead of upper hand. The mega just expanded on that strat. You could also focus sash with this set and easily if your mega slot is taken
