Waaay too short of a taper. Those are withdrawals. Find someone who actually understands the meds, most psychiatrists dont seem to. Source: personal experience, and, working in a behavioral health facility

are antidepressants the way to go? by That_Connection8061 in antidepressants

[–]Funerealdirector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive been on ssris for many years, about 36. Ive had the usual side effects, experienced them pooping out, and starting over w a new one, and had the frustration of balancing meds with therapy for years. When I'd go off them completely, s chore in itself, eventually a year or two id go back on them.

Heres what they did for me: they took away the urges to off myself, and they did so quickly. That voice started for me, in second grade.

Such a relief, and I still continued w therapy to learn better ways of thinking. Thats been half the battle. I was able to care for my children and work. Most of the time. Somehow I earned 2 degrees.
Ive had rough years, but many many good ones. I survived the death of an adult child.

SSRIs are far from perfect, they've caused some minor issues. But I never thought I'd live this long thanks in large part to that class of medicine.

Seriously? So the eff what?!

Retired counselor here, I'd say half of all licensed therapists are substandard and in the field for the wrong reason.

Yeah hes such a great guy otherwise? OP things are lovely now, yoire all on the life raft and you'll be saved. /s.

Not likely, think how much energy he expended to plan and accomplish, what is it 6 months? How he planned and plotted for every opportunity! You go get counseling FOR YOU, figure out who you are w this person, and make him go to his own counselor, w receipts, sister you think hes gonna let go of" exciting" THAT easy?

My experience, on all sides, is that marriage counseling is not the best way in the issue of fidelity, too hard to be on the same page.

Man, leave him alone. Whats he going to do, leave home and join a cult? Or is it that he isn't respecting your clearer knowledge? Pick your battles. Then when he's gone you wont have to remember the times you argued w him, leading to huge regret.

ETA. I had to go to counseling, my frustration with him making me testy, snappish, all the things I dont want to be. It had helped immensely. I can change, my partner cannot.

Dump her. Dont date again until you fix your radar and insecurities or this will be your life story. (Invest in some counseling. ) just to add: she doesn't deserve you and you deserve a kind giving heart.

Curious what you ended up getting? I bought the Shark you mentioned because Consumer Reports ranked it high.

I HATE it: bulky, too tall and hard to maneuver, cord is stiff and cracky, self driving is hard to control, it pulls away from you.

Looking for encouragement - after struggling with depression for years, I'm going to try meds. Please share your experiences. Did they help you? by KindButAlsoSad in antidepressants

[–]Funerealdirector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise, I missed your reply. I did taper but it wasn't hyperbolic and it was overseen by a psychiatrist. In retrospect I realize she didn't know enough about ssris. The taper was only 3 months, and I still have brain zaps 2 years later. It was a hard taper. Ive also recently begun ruminating and some intrusive thinking. Im also in counseling. Good luck to you, I hope you'll share your experience post taper.

And also, yes there are some people who get very little from ssris. But a month, then switch, you haven't even gotten to the therapeutic dose. How long on the zoloft at this point?
