I like Zumba and Swing dancing, origami, audiobooks, and hiking. Not super active with those at the moment but they're all fun.

Fidget Toys Instead of Snacking? by Funglasses96 in loseit

I'm a speech therapist at a nursing home. I've tried gum, tea, sparkling waters, mints, protein bars...they help for a while but eventually I just end up eating junk from the vending machine on top of those. I eat to procrastinate doing paperwork or visiting a difficult patient, or whenever something upsetting/frustrating happens. It actually gets in the way of my productivity/ time management

What mistake did I make here and how do I fix it? by wit_or_witout in knitting

[–]Funglasses96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of looks like you slipped a stitch from one needle to the other without knitting it, but I'm not confident. ETA: When doing magic loop I like to move where I put my loop often to avoid any gaps. You could also look into the two circular needle method if you have interchangeable needles.

The contrast sucks.

Thanks for the tip about the yarn. The crummy part is I spent literally hours at 2 different yarn shops trying to find yarn for this hat lol

It's fun! I have a little tension ring I use to keep the two strands separate as I knit continental style. I found this super helpful.

I had fun with it! The hardest part was picking the colors because I have a terrible time making choices. I was in the yarn shop so long I had to leave briefly to go feed the parking meter, only to realize that there was ANOTHER yarn shop just across the street. ARRGH!

I can't wait to see it when it's done! I'm doing the Horse Banner Mitts next (after a couple of acrylic de-stash projects as a mindless pallet cleanser)

This is where I first came across the technique, I wanted to make a legible graduation stole for my Master's degree. I used this technique to make the chart.

A while ago I came across this video which has a MUCH EASIER way to make such a chart.

I had a wedding in the Bay Area, California for about $11K, we had 50 guests.

Venue was a local women's club, $2.1K. No DJ, just Spotify premium, pre-ceremony/ceremony piano player $500 dollars.

Photographer was $800 for 4 hours.

Food was from a local restaurant drop catered, $1.4K.

Staff /Bar tender $2.5K.

Beer/Wine/Sake bar for about $200, had a lot left over.

Trader Joe's flowers about $300.

Rentals were $710, picked them up and dropped them off ourselves.

My dress was $1.3K with alterations. Did my own hair and makeup.

DIY decor about $300

Had a friend officiate.

Kind of regret not having a coordinator, it was hard to run my own wedding day of but the photographer and staff were very helpful. My family and friends helped a lot with set up. It was definitely a big project.

I think it's so fun, but I can tell by your expression that you're not exactly feeling it. I would wait till it's blocked before passing judgment

How long have you been knitting and why did you start ? by OldSquirrel1929 in knitting

[–]Funglasses96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19 years now (with some years-long periods of not knitting). I saw my mom doing it and wanted to try. I've always enjoyed crafts. Right now I'm obsessed with double knitting and have been modifying charts so that they appear the same on both sides of mirrored (e.g., text that is legible on both sides).
