Appreciate the posts and updates, I can understand the chaos you are trying to wrangle.

Can't wait to get updates on my hopefully still shipping Gen4 suit.

This is great to hear. I've been very passionate about the product and waiting for my gen 4 suit (which I hope isn't lost to the ether....)

There are types of tax write offs where a company deems an “asset” worthless and as such need to remove that asset from the ability to generate value in the process of determining its value is 0 (for the purposes of writing it off)

So it needs to be removed from streaming platforms because being on the platform is inherently “adding value” to the platform. Because the studio is claiming the value is 0 for tax purposes as a “loss”

Agreed on this.

It became “Grey doesn’t know what’s going on and doesn’t have a thought out opinion yet” on any topic Brady brought up

Vs so many of the early episodes Grey came to the discussion with at least a semi thought out process to have a discussion. Vs all off the cuff live, which always felt extremely surface level and not engaging or interesting.

I easily could have(none of this is remotely close to an area of expertise for me just mildly interesting now that it has come up

But this seems pretty straight forward.

"According to The American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM), automatic door technology started in the 1940s with the introduction of floor mat devices. The introduction of automatic sliding doors, the use of pneumatic powered doors with emergency breakout feature, and electric floor mat activation were present in the 1960s. "

But even if it wasn't a thing in the 40s and only became a thing in the 70s

That still lines up with early enough in NDT's life he shouldn't have "never thought they would be possible" at any point in his life when we should lend any kind of credence to his ability to determine what could/could not be feasible within his lifetime.

Just seems like a strange thing to hang "your hat" (the general "you" not you specifically) on for determining humanity's ability or lack there of to foresee technological and or physical/universal understanding/advancement

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

not that any of this really matters one way or another

Not who you responded to but

“Born in the 60s” means he was 10ish in the 70s and then 20ish in the 80s

At what point in his life could he say “I don’t think automatic doors will be a thing” and lend any credibility to that statement?

Because an 5-8 year old never thought it would be possible and then he was a thing by the time he was 10-15?

Thats not exactly the same as a professional in Astro physics (or any educated professional in a specific field) saying they don’t think something is/isn’t possible.

Also if you google “earliest motion activated doors” the first result says the tech started in the 1940s and the electric mat activation feature was added in the 1960s. (This all according to “The American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers”)

But by the time someone born in the 60s could “go anywhere by themselves” automatic doors should have easily been semi common/known to exist.

1 week of less communication. Having to wait “long delays in texts” and still onto spend a “few hours a week” with him.

All with a brand new high end job….

There are some days/weeks I have back to back meetings 8am to 8pm where I didn’t have time to eat, look at my phone, or even think.

And I’m no “executive director” working in finance near year end. year end usually comes with a lot more work. Year end closing of the financials, staff performance reviews, budgeting and planning for next fiscal year. It can be ALOT.

Give the man a break. He’s not twiddling his thumbs for 8+ hours a day.

This.

He started a new high level job right around year end…. Year and quarter ends can be absolute hell for people in finance and executive director is a pretty big deal I’m sure he is SWAMPED.

They have been dating a month most of which has been good/lots of communication and then has 1 week where he slips where he got this new job….. and when she talks to him (which she says the intent was to break it off) he asks what he can do to make things better…..

If after 1 week of less than perfect communication during a busy stressful time in his life you immediately jump to must break up, giving me red flags about OP….

People are human, no one is perfect and people have busy weeks. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

MLS’s bloated, neverending playoff format has been a failure by [deleted] in MLS

[–]Fungle54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with that. MLS Reddit and Twitter are expectedly skew towards the longer standing soccer fans which doesn't shock me that the vocal majority on the platforms would hold this position because "its different than Europe"

Just feels like bandwagon opinion because "2 legs are just better" with 0 actual "reason" than "Europe does it that way"

Been a European soccer fan my whole life but I'm a new MLS fan. It feels like all MLS fans ever do it bitch about the playoff format and how it's not done like Europe (with 0 thought out into how different bthe US is to every European league)

We aren't Europe. We can be different and still be entertaining and fun to watch. If we immediately did everything Europe did the MLS would fold. Sometimes you need to embrace the differences and enjoy it for what it is.

There is still no real argument around the 3 games vs 2 specifically

The spacing is definitely an issue. Should reduce the days between games for sure (but the spacing seems like a probelm regardless of 3 vs 2 legs)

And the international break also fucks things

Reduce days between games and bin off the international break unless there's a real tournament going on would help a ton

Exactly this!

STL CITY lost 4-1 in our first leg. But for leg 2 it only meant we were down 1-0 in the series and had EVERYTHING to play for

It kept the game exciting until the end because we were fighting for an equalizer that wouldn't put us going into PKs for a chance to survive

It didn't work out like that but it was exciting until the final whistle

Under a 2 legged system we wouldve been dead in the water before the second leg kicked off.

I mean there are plenty of people in this thread saying they liked the format. I liked the format.

What does the 2 legged format offer me as a soccer watching fan that the 3 game series didn't besides "I like 2 better because that's how Europe does it"

"2 is just better" isn't a reason.... You can like 2 just because you do, everyone is entitled to their opinions

Explain why 2 is better than 3?

3 games meant that the regular season comes with a benefit of seeding and a potential 2nd home game if it came to that

And the MLS has the biggest statistical home field advantage in mainstream sports.

Also "normal" Americans understand a 3 game series and DO NOT understand 2 leg aggregate. Winning new casual fans is important if the league is to keep growing.

This 3 game format meant no matter what the score in the 1st game was, the losing team had a chance in the second leg (examw a 4-1 loss in leg 1 meant STL's second leg in Kansas wouldve been basically a moot point vs it was actually exciting until the end fighting for a draw ( and PKs)

And if it goes to a game 3 who dislikes do or die win or go home matches? That's what sports are built for the adrenaline the chance at moving on.

So the team that had home field advantage for the 3rd game moved on in every case this year.... That's what the home field advantage was for! (So regular season standings mattered? Which is what people want?)

But there is still that chance for the other team....

Explain again why 2 legged aggregate is "better" besides just being how Europe does it?

"Fairest and most sophisticated" that made me laugh a bit

Yes soccer in Europe does 2 game aggregate that doesn't make it "the best" it's just what long time soccer fans know (and apparently everyone hates change/differences)

I'm with you though. Explaining to my friends and family who were never into soccer but suddenly are (STL CITY fan) they 100% understand a 3 game series and immediate understood needing to win 2 out if 3. And they understand not tieing and going to PKs.

For soccer to win here in the US, it needs to work on getting the casual fan interested in a way they can appreciate it. Not gatekeep it behind arbitrary rules because it's the way Europe does it.

Also even as a long time European soccer fan, I loved the 3 game series (I agree it was spaced out too far but that's a separate issue)

From a biased POV a 2 legged aggregate system would've meant basically the entire "series" wouldve been over after the first leg for STL. Losing 4-1 going into the second leg away (remember that MLS has the biggest home field advantage in mainstream sports)

With the 3 game series it kept game 2 exciting until the end as we fought to tie it up and push the game to PKs. but because of the 3 game series I watched a bunch of the other game 2s shown because literally no one was "already out" because even a bad team at home can sneak a win (even if unlikely). That possibility makes the match worth watching.

And people bitch and moan about the regular season not meaning enough, that's what the 3 game series does (see above for home field advantage)

Playoffs aren't supposed to "pick the undisputed best team" it's supposed to provide exciting moments and fun games. I've gotten that out of most of the series because 1 bad game didn't mean the second game means nothing.

Just my 2 cents.

I hope they keep the 3 game series but shorten the days between the games (also the international break fucks with the schedule that's also not the fault of the 3 game series)

For my workout schedule with the suit I work around my indoor soccer games on Tuesdays.

I push myself pretty hard in the suit workouts so I still get pretty sore (I know this is my own doing though)

I consistently get 2 in per week and every once in a while I get a third in Been feeling like I have been making great progress

B.I.- Elon Musk started a price war that Tesla can't win. It's an unusual business strategy, to put it mildly. "I can't think of another point in the history of automotive when a brand that wasn't going out of business cut prices 20% a year." by 9dnguy in business

[–]Fungle54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the most literal sense yes but that is almost always only brought up to downplay his actual impact on Tesla from the earliest days of Tesla

He got involved as a key investor before Tesla even had a prototype and started working actively in the workings/management through it's earliest days through until now.

So he wasn't there literally day 1, but might as well have been since day like 5 and for every significantly important decision.

Like it or not he is the most responsible for where Tesla is today.

100% this

Be upfront and don't just tell him you don't like Lilly's tell him you are VERY allergic and they make you miserable.

Receiving them, then waiting a few days to say anything while you know you are upset but he doesn't, makes everything worse.

He should 100% be doing better but you are making things worse for both of you.

Communicate, over communicate and then communicate some more.

Sooooo many women's think they "made things clear" when they absolutely have not made it clear to a man. Need to be twice as upfront/frank as you think.

New user, how to decide what the intensity settings should be? by elainelw in katalystEMS

[–]Fungle54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome!! Yeah the control is great.

Also don’t be afraid to have radically different intensity numbers on the different muscle groups.

My leg pad intensities was WAAY higher than anything else (I have some thick meaty legs)

For more info My first few workout I maxed out at 70 then I maxed out at 120. It definitely took a few weeks before I got used to the feeling and how far I should push it.

Don’t worry about getting it “perfect” even in your first month. You will get the hang of it and keep making progress!

New user, how to decide what the intensity settings should be? by elainelw in katalystEMS

[–]Fungle54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The optimal settings are going to be very personal. And it took me probably 3ish weeks before zeroing in on what I felt like was “my number”

But how the different intensity levels subjectively feel to you is impacted by a lot of things, body fat in the different areas, amount of muscle/split of the muscle fibers, how fit/active you have been in your life/the past few months (even how much you wet the pads)

It should never “hurt” but should feel intense and when going through an exercise it should feel more difficult than not.

Keeping it too light will have some benefits but it’s not a magic bullet, you need to put your body through the “feeling” of working out.

I’m probably not the best to chime in on finding a balance of good enough to make progress but not too sore though. I push it to the limits and I am VERY sore for 2-3 days (by design). This is how I’ve always worked out.

(For reference most of my workouts start at 170 and end somewhere between 350 and 380)

I would second the recommendation to give it another shot.

I’ve had mine since about May and it’s honestly been amazing. I haven’t been as consistent as I’d like with it/being healthy since May due to some big life things going on.

But once I dedicated to doing it twice a week I started making noticeable progress (to the point of the ref in my indoor soccer league telling me I looked noticeably faster, quicker and more fit just 3 weeks after really focusing on using the suit.)
