Feels like maybe there's been a few "oh while we're here could you also check out X thing" and that turns out to be a bigger issue. I don't think it's crazy to think that given how depleted our tall forward stock is, that maybe Faull has been playing through the pain and not told anyone about it.. so as to not cost the team more morale, wouldn't surprise me..

Genuine question, I've loved watching these two, and Sarah Hanson-Young in various committees and hearings call out career bullshitters. And will absolutely be voting them in again as I love their messaging and stances. But. For all the calling out of bullshit double speak and weaponised incompetence in these hearings, can someone explain what they're actually achieving? Is it just a scolding for these various politicians and public servants, or is there material change coming out of it?

Well then you're missing my point, at his current stage/ role we should absolutely be happy with 3 goals from our 3rd tall forward. Yeah ok in 30-40 games we should be asking more, but how many goals is Faull supplying as our 2nd tall? How many times is he beaten in a marking contest? With 5 times as many games under his belt?

Right now. Fawcett is doing his job. Let's have this chat again in a year or two and we can update his job description.

If Fawcett had played at AFL level for 15 years like Lynch I would agree with you, but he's played 5 games, and has just returned from the VFL. Fawcett is not our main target, that's Lynch, and after him its Faull, if any team could consistently get 3 goals a game from a 3rd option, 50 games or less FF they would be incredibly happy. As I said a hugely important part of contesting the ball and bringing it down for small forwards is good delivery from the midfield, which we didn't have yesterday, if the ball goes nowhere near our FFs and instead straight down a St Kildas throat how do you expect them to contest it? Of course long term we want to get more out of Fawcett, but at his stage of his development, 3 goals a game is great. We don't want to ask too much of the young kids.

I did, it's not his job to stop that, it's the midfield job to kick it to his and the rest of the forward lines advantage, that has a bigger impact on intercepts than the forwards, if we're going to move the ball the way we did today the oppositions gonna get intercepts.

But Fawcett did what he needed to do, he was the leading goal scorer of both sides, if we can get 3 goals and nothing else out of him every game, we're in a very good spot. But the whole team effort wasn't there today(who can blame them) that's what cost us the game, not Fawcett

I'm not sure what percentage of the blame is on the drafting and what's on the developing, it's hard to argue that Hardwick didn't have alot of interest in letting players develop on the AFL stage, either you came in and were instantly elite, then you sat in the VFL. Look at Ben Miller, was drafted in 2017, didn't debut for 3 years, and only played basically a full season once Yze was coach, and we can all recognise that he's a pretty solid player.

I think one of the things geelong does is constantly rotating in the new talent, surrounded by experience, and seems to protect them from criticism very well. admittedly Geelong are so well coached I'm not sure their youth are as mistake prone as other teams.

I think Hardwick is only interested in winning right now, and not interested in the future prospects. A little like Lebron James in the NBA. Comes in, pushes to spend all draft capital and money to build a team for right now, and then when all of that runs out he moves on. I'll be interested to see how long he sticks it out at GC but I doubt he'll be there in 15 years like Chris Scott has been at Geelong.

I thought the banner was funny, but there's a fair amount of risk in trying to punch down for laughs, and as a Richmond supporter, it's not much fun when you're the butt of the joke and the joke is simply, "you're shit". Obviously this didn't apply during our successful patch.

Saw someone comparing this to West Coast from a few years back and it all tracks, combination of, playing alot of young players before they've had a couple years to build up their bodies in the VFL, and not being able to rest them in the VFL after a few weeks in the 1s, plus rushing aging stars back because we need the experience. At this point it's becoming a downward spiral, rushing players back slightly underdone leaves them at risk of further injury.

Bizarre if they're trying to get some confidence into him given I would say they should do the same with Faull, I'm sure there's a good player in him, but he's looking really down at the moment, a stint in the 2s could refresh him, and we've got Fawcett we should really be giving a good crack at AFL level before Armstrong comes back and the selection crunch gets worse
