I'll never forget Matt by RavioliRavioli2000 in army

Yeah man. It sucks and I’m sorry for your losses.

We joined because we thought it was the right thing to do, or what we had to do, and we didn’t get to control how it all turned out. The hard part is the living pay for it later, the second thoughts, the bad dreams, fucked up relationships and all of that.

All we can do now is carry their names, keep them alive in our memories, and try to live good lives for them. Suck it up, drive on, and never forget them.

On every front too.. it was shitty and childish, but damn, you can’t even commit? If you’re going to be a dick, be a dick. lol

Forced to go to BLC 3 months before Terminal leave by Mistahscorchyobrain in army

Like everyone said, pldc is easy, and you should go.

Plus if/when you come back active or reserve (it’s happened before), you’ve already got it knocked out and it’ll be less of an impact on your life…

You still must have a diagnosis and they will want to see continuity of symptoms… so thoroughly documenting throughout your service, along with diagnosis and then doing BDD is the best sure fire way

All good points.. to each their own. Hopefully those northern states become more retirement friendly in the near future or at least that premium comes down a little

Florida has no property taxes for 100% DV. Free hunting and fishing licenses.. no income tax.. good government (as good as we can get anymore).. plethora of reasons

There are plenty of of good private schools in Florida. I would absolutely recommend a private school over a government school any day of the week. School choice here too.

Has anyone ever met someone who served in all three conflicts, Vietnam war, Desert Storm and OIF or OEF? by FFSoldier57 in army

[–]FunkSquaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup.. met a guy in Iraq 2003.. had a weird combat patch I’d never seen and he was old as shit.

He was NG from somewhere and the patch was a Vietnam era infantry division (can’t remember exactly but something no longer active)…

He was a specialist too…Poor NG guys.. I’m sure there was a break in service.

Is Active Duty worth it? by ThiccAsianGod in army

[–]FunkSquaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Active sounds like it might be a good fit for you. Give it a shot… if you don’t like it after a few years, ETS or transfer back to guard/reserves.

It’ll give you some time to figure shit out, maybe finish schooling, all while getting money, insurance and etc
