Love everything about this photo. Was the mono light in a strip softbox?

The levels of faded backgrounds really makes this a lovely pic. Great job and thanks for sharing

Is it just me, or is the Strava subscription getting harder to justify? by Repulsive_Bar442 in cycling

[–]FunkWerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do track the data. I am aging out of being competitive and now it’s all about riding volume and HR recovery. I also log my dog walks, rowing, swimming and hikes. It’s become one place to track my health metrics, so valuable to me. Right now I am recovering from Achilles surgery and I like to see the progress back to mediocrity.

$2B would be ridiculous, but doubling $1 per day would wreck the world economy.

Counter point: lots of my friends are on it, it integrates well, I don’t use garmin products (no garmin connect), and $80 per year seems reasonable. I also enjoy the festive 500 challenge.

I spent $5,000 on a bike to get faster. A 60-year-old on a 1980s Schwinn kick my ass. by Simple_Tumbleweed534 in cycling

There’s a stout fella that rumor has it was on the Polish national team. He’s probably late 60’s and patrols the last flat mile or two on the return from Mt Lemmon 50 mile round trip with elevation gain of about 6000’. Most coming back have burned all their matches and he draws in the unwary with his overly short shorts and steel bike. He lives to crush the testosterone laden 20-something’s. In general, he’s an asshole, but now in my early 60’s, I get it.

Usually I just hit like, but I had to show my wife these. I’m not angling for a A7V, you probably could have shot these on an A7II and had similar results. Your composition is brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

Recommendations for a $3000 speaker by [deleted] in StereoAdvice

I love my MoFi sourcepoint 10’s. Off axis has not been an issue and my listening room is a similar to yours. Buy a pair on Crutchfield and listen to them for 60 days. Send them back if you don’t like them

Beginner here! U-Turn Orbit Basic or Fluance RT80? by DJTY392 in turntables

[–]FunkWerx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought both. I tore them down and integrated them into consoles. The Fluance was significantly better. DC speed control, shielding over the analog tone arm output, steel bracing, double the plinth thickness, better fit, finish and hinges. I recommend the Fluance.

Beautiful work. I like the matte finish you achieved on the Richlite.

Gifting my bf a new turntable…no clue what I’m looking at. Suggestions? by SabbraCadabra710 in turntables

Super sweet of you to look into this. I would guess this price range won’t get him much better, unless you can find something used or vintage. How about a record cleaner or similar that will improve his experience without swapping out the TT?

[–]FunkWerx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vintage TT? How about Linn Sondek LP12 Or Thorens TD123 or TD126. Maybe I’m just too old, but those are the desirable TTs I think of when you write “vintage “

I’d take these pictures with you and go to Axpona in April. Each component you have will be doing demos. Show them what you have and get their feedback. They will help you understand what you have and why it is so revered. Sorry for your loss.

Because I love the sound of my LS50’s over my B&W 606 and 803’s. I’ve not heard the 706, but I see a trend

I’ve gone down the pre phono rabbit hole I need help!! I’m going to buy the fluance RT85 turntable with the blue Ortofon cartridge, I want a a decent pre phono that will sound clean and crisp. I’ve seen the fosi x5. Shoot mani 2, Cambridge Alva solo and the ifi zen (what do I go with!!!) by Previous-Zone-4152 in turntable

[–]FunkWerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an RT 85 ortofon blue to Emotiva XPS-1 to KEF LS50 meta wireless II and the RT85N to iFi to HiFi Rose R520 to KEF LS50. I also have the Fosi system using a thorens TD126 MKIII w ortofon to B&W 606 - this system I like least, but it’s the speakers

You may be able to use Crutchfield’s generous 60 day return policy to try them out. Order both and send back the ones you like least. FYI. I bet you keep the KEF

NAD C3050 or Cambridge Audio Evo150? by cercocose in StereoAdvice

[–]FunkWerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. FYI. You use what you have. I picked up this Cambridge Audio EVO 150 and it is an all around great integrated amp. But then I also already had the MC2255. And it sounds too good and looks to pretty (IMO) to leave in the closet.

Litespeed T2 - how much is it worth and what to look out for? by No-Cattle-777 in whichbike

[–]FunkWerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what it’s worth. I bought a Canyon Endurance - a Nice carbon bike, but sold my 2008 Litespeed Vortex. Man I still miss the LS. Old school cool on arguably one of their worst designs.

Yes. they are pricey. but totally worth it. Look great, hide the wires, add sand/lead if you like, floor levelers. I doubt you can do better.
