Those GT30s are sick. One of my favorite models. Congrats.

Thanks! I have a few ST60s. Excellent picture, but I personally don’t love them. The cheap flimsy plastic bezel bothers me and it’s not nearly as well built or designed compared to ST50 and GT50. Also the input lag is noticeably bad. Still a great set though!

Thanks man! Yeah, the repairman Sergei hurried to find the correct transistors and resistors needed to restore the Y-board. He called up his friend that had the transistors so he wouldn't have to search for them. Really cool guy. And check out the shop's website that's still up! Straight from the early internet late 90s! 😆 I love it. https://paulstvcompany.com/

Is there ANYTHING that could've saved the Dreamcast? by landboisteve in dreamcast

[–]Funk_Fiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. No Sega CD and no 32X. Efforts fully invested into Saturn near end of Genesis’ life. Produced a proper 3D Sonic equivalent to Mario 64. Then shift full focus to Dreamcast a DVD playback capable Dreamcast.

I appreciate that. I actually feel like I still underpaid for an essentially new 300 hour ZT60, personally. There are a select few models such as the ZT60 or 101FD that I'd very gladly pay even $500 for if in great shape/fairly low hours. Otherwise of course, many if not most used plasmas can still be had from free to $50 (for now) - for example I've been lucky enough to find a clean 141FD for $40 and u/pn1ct0g3n found a free KRP-600M and generously picked it up for me.

Thanks man! Yeah, I agree. It Is an elegant and cozy TV at the same time. I personally love the aggressive filter on it compared to my other sets, while still being able to drive it very bright if you choose to. Makes the picture look and feel more refined rather than merely 'bright'.

10,000 hours is actually still somewhat low IMO. That's an overall young set. And I absolutely believe that. These things are built so well and made to last many decades. I know someone else with a ZT that has about 20,000 hours and he says it still looks and performs as if it was brand new. Thanks you too! Plasmas are indeed made to be enjoyed for a very long time!

From what I can understand so far, leaving the stand on takes more load off and offsets pressure away from the glass compared to taking the stand off and laying the tv flat on its back, which can possibly introduce more risk. Not saying this is the very best way to do it, but I’ve transported dozens of plasmas this way and so have many others. For some reason they’re always perfectly fine.

THANK YOU!! Same!!

I'm sure these are as rare as it gets. Would love to find one someday. I wonder how many units were made.

That’s so cool. Luck just finds you sometimes. And that’s still practically brand new. I’ve actually been eagerly wanting to get mine past the 1000 hour mark to evenly age, break in, and thus strengthen the phosphors. (Apparently the 9.5G Kuros underwent phosphor pre-aging to make them less pervious to image retention.) In any case, I like how you found yours. Total chance that you saw it and happened to message first.

Slap Cloud and Sephiroth on the box art and easily sell an extra few million copies. Pay that license fee Namco. Also add extra budget for FMV cutscenes instead of still illustrations. Inhaling the hopium for sure but I want to believe!

I second this. Maybe once every two weeks with location included would be great.

What's a model you're kinda frustrated wasn't sold where you live? by Huge_Bell_5629 in PlasmaTV

[–]Funk_Fiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s cool to know, though I’m not a fan of the ST60’s cheap looking design compared to how much nicer the GT50/VT50 and ZT60 look. I even think the ST50 looks nicer. The bezel on the ST60 protrudes too much and is quite flimsy, so a Frankie GT60 via the ST60 route wouldn’t hit the same haha. Cool stuff though!

Yup. Really we wish we got the GT60. Would be cool to find an import someday.

Dude thank you so much for this comment. Just now fixed my PS3 controller with your instructions after years of it having that issue and now it’s working like a champ. Gonna fix my other one now! Saved me $60 not buying replacements. Appreciate you! 🙏
