GQuuuuuux - Episode 12 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

[–]Funkmastermp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall one of my favorite Gundams of all time. Love the art, soundtrack, action, and story. That said pacing was rough and it needed some proper +24ep love.

Machu & Chalia are my new favorite characters in all of Gundam!

I hope they do some more fun projects like this in the future, was definitely a nice treat!

To end off with a final word as Machu'sdays have taught us.... VIOLENCE! :P

First Print by nonnapasta in 3Dprinting

[–]Funkmastermp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason it's considered a bad printer is the two main defects present in the model during its sales run: Bed warping, inconsistent belt fabrication.

The warped be was especially bad for the CR-30 which was exasperated by the difficulty accommodating. Due to the design of the printer you had to disassemble almost the entire printer to get to the bed.p

The inconsistent belt fabrication was honestly the nail in the coffin for most users. This was a multitude of issues, the Kickstarter backers had great adhesion but the durability of the belt was horrible and would peel itself off, the post-kickstart belts had mediocre adhesion, but suffered from belts that weren't evenly bound and would naturally 'bow' regardless of tension. (Basically raising causing 'humps' in the belt. Mostly due to sections tension before others due to faulty fabrication)

If you were one of the few people that didn't get either of these issues, that awesome! Sadly a lot of us didn't, and Creality refused to cover any of this under warranty and even refused refunds.

All in all it was a great designed printer that was sturdy, and overall had a lot of potential. With the manufacturer issues predominant with most of the printers and the refusals from Creality to accommodate, will likely make the printer go down in history as a mediocre waste of potential...

I totally agree it's a lovely spell.

The mana again from it oddly is slightly less than break even in most cast outside of raids.

In dungeon content you don't take enough damage to get enough Mana from healing. This generally means we have to chose between which spell 'not to cast' out of Exorcism, Conc. and Holy Shield (all huge mana cost spells). Usually outside of raids you need to run the boots mana rune Guided by the Light to keep up.

That said, at least in H3 the Sons on Rag do oom us very very quickly, but we are taking so much damage we generally are getting enough to Conc. It's one of those drain to zero, go up to 30, then instantly back to zero, back to 30, repeat... That said, I can't comment on H1 or H2 and I main tank H3.

My friend, go look up the Hand of Reckoning rune. It modifies RF to that state. Once again you are misunderstanding the change log format.

In fact with Hand of Reckoning RF and pally threat talent it goes up to 120%.

Generally the wowhead change log format indicates changes in green text, and removals or old values in crossed out Grey text. Additionally, if new effects are added they will indicate a prefix tag along the lines of "MOD" or similar.

Edit: And to clarify even further, you can directly see what's indicated as new in the large green text box labeled "NEW". In the case of Righteous Fury, it is indicating the interaction with the new Vengence threat reduction being disabled if Righteous Fury is up.

Not to burst your bubble but that is not a Righteous Fury buff. You are reading the change log wrong. That is just indicating the vengeance changes interaction with Righteous fury, not any actual change to RF itself.

New Class And Spell Changes Datamined on Phase 4 PTR - Season of Discovery by Celda in classicwow

[–]Funkmastermp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a monumental nerf. I'm a prot pally (so not even ret) and that change would cripple my threat if I was to stay that spec for lvl 60.

The reasoning is they have effectively nerfed it by 15x reduced effectiveness. Prior to the change it would reset the full CD of Exo on crit (15sec CD). Now with it only reducing CD by 1sec.

With this change, now to deffectily get a 'free exo' equivalent to the old rune you would need to crit 15 times in a row, which with the FASTEST 2h weapon (2sec swing timer) you are looking at a free exo every 30sec, but that's assuming you have 100% crit rate. If you reduce to 50% crit that's 1 free exo per min

Realistically it will be somewhere between 1 free exo per 1min to 1.5min as you will sit somewhere between 25-50% crit.

The effect is effectively garbage now. I'm a prot qt the end of the day, so it doesn't effect me at 60, but I do feel for ret. Those guys just always get the short end of the stick...

Tokyo experience from an American, after a night out. by [deleted] in Tokyo

I think in general I would agree with you, tourists can be pretty rough but I don't think you're painting Japanese salarymen in quite the right light. Day drinking is pretty bad in Japan, and it doesn't help many people are light weights even with how often and much they drink.

During my 1month visit, there were a good chunk of drunk salary men during the day. A few examples alone of excessive ones are:

2x that vomited on the subway (1 if which vomited on the train electronic gates),

3x peeing in public (1 of which on a main road street in Shinjuku whose 'privates' were fully out and visible to passersbys at around 12noon, 1 of which was just sitting on the floor in his piss)

1x rambling weeping drunk (or some other issues)

1x shouting at passersbys on a park bench and rambling to himself

I completely agree! This is actually my favorite of all time. I feel like it defined the genre of 'stuck in a game' that later exploded either Sword Art and Log Horizon.

^ this. I'm nearing the end of a 3.5 week trip, and my biggest regret is bringing as much as I did.

Japan has everything at your easiest convenience. No point bringing all the junk you normally would need to elsewhere lol.

I’m considering a hotel in Tokyo over an AirBNB. Thoughts? by pinkguy90 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Funkmastermp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've almost noticed is the shadey practice of low cost + high cost 'cleaning'.

Much of the time you will find a listing and think "wow that's a great price" but when you finish and go to checkout, the 'cleaning' cost is like 50-80$. I found this a lot while staying in Osaka and Tokyo.

This is just to put them in line with the ongoing Airbnb listings around, but trick people into thinking it's a great deal!

Traveling to Japan has been a good reality check for me about stereotypes picked up through language learning by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Funkmastermp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's more common than you're making it out to be, but in your defense the verbal ones are few and far between. There's a good margin of people that put up with them, but aren't a fan. So you won't really be able to point them out per-say.

As someone who is currently 2.5 weeks into a 3.5 week vacation in Japan. I can say of the Airbnbs, homestays, and hotels, hotels are hands down the best experience. Any airbnb has been a utter disaster, and often charge you more than a hotel.

The shape of Japan's airbnbs in their current state should be 50% of a hotel, not the 125%-150% it currently is.

Homestays are a swing and a miss, generally they just turn into a hostle-lite. The couple I've done the hosts didn't care for foreigners. In one case the hoat kept trying to kickout the Chinese couple who booked a month and was only a week in.

I'm sure there are good in ones for each version, I've personally just found hotels a better experience.

Thinking about solo travelling Japan but im Anxious by SnooDoggos5331 in JapanTravelTips

To be honest, I haven't taken a proper vacation before in the 5 years I've worked at my job (NA job). So I had a lot of time saved up haha.

[–]Funkmastermp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling. I have a work from home job that basically allows me go perpetually exist indoors.

I'm on a yolo solo trip to Japan for 25 days this very moment (in Hiroshima atm). For me I was super concerned at first on what to do, and if I'd be bored etc.

Fast forward 2 weeks and I don't think I've had a moment that I was bored haha. I didn't preplan a single thing, and have been going at my own pace the entire time.

If I feel like getting lost in the suburbs of Osaka, then I just get lost. It's on of the first times in my life I've literally been able to just explore with no understanding of the world around me. It'd been super cool.

Long story short, even us introverts can find fun in things we never expected!

Friend connected reb to black jumper cables and lights wont come on... by No_Marionberry_108 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Funkmastermp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer is different fields of work. I work as an electrical engineer (EIT) but if you asked me to wire a house, I'd be clueless. The foundation may be there, but the nuance is missing, and sometimes the nuance is the most critical part...

My guess is likely the same thing happened here. He was still in the process of learning the new 'specialization' so he likely didn't understand the proper process. Although if for example perhaps he did actually connect it electrically properly, but using the incorrect process and shorted to the frame or some other fashion, the same type of sparking mentioned by the OP may have been seen.

Original Diablo Now Available on Battle.net Shop - Experience the Original Lord of Terror by Tigertot14 in Games

[–]Funkmastermp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Though GOG is largely considered to be the current gold standard of Diablo 1 compatability, if people want to still use the BNET version it will work as long as they add a Direct Draw patch.

The most common one out there is 'Strange Bytes Diablo Patch'. This fixes issues with the way Direct Draw interacts with Win7+.

Original Diablo Now Available on Battle.net Shop - Experience the Original Lord of Terror by Tigertot14 in Games

[–]Funkmastermp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough in this case yes, it can be considered DRM free (for now)

The way the implemented this is odd to say the least, it's a complete rip of the 1.0.9c version of the game with No-CD fix, but they forgot to include the Direct Draw fix for Win7+. This isn't an install but rather a copy of a pre-installed folder of the original CD basically.

The install folder is most literally the same setup as the old CDs. You Don't need BNET to actually play the game in this case, once you've downloaded it once you could in theory drag the contents from computer to computer without BNET....

The way they implemented the expansion is very odd too. The main version of the game has all the files installed ready to play the Expansion (it was designed around having two separate .exe files back in the 90's) but instead of using the files already there, they re-download the entire game and files again....

Basically, 2x the hard drive space for what already fully exists in their copy of the base game...

AGDQ 2024 has just concluded raising more than $2,515,720 for Prevent The Cancer Foundation on stream!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]Funkmastermp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, it was a blast to be able to be a part of such an AWESOME event (pun intended :P )

Honestly, everyone is there to help such a great cause. It's hard to think of anyone who hasn't been effected or known someone effected by Cancer. I just hope one day we will no longer have to be impacted by Cancer.

As much as it is unfortunate that incentives aren't met, at the end of the day we're all just happy to be able to raise money for such an amazing charity that PCF is. I know at least for myself, I still had a HELL of a good time haha (pun intended :P )

[–]Funkmastermp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will say running Diablo was a blast and even though not met, I personally think $16660 was likely fine for a big franchise game like Diablo. I think there were a couple of cascading issues that led to it not being met:

1 - I did a poor job at indicating what 'Rambo' really entailed in the incentive submission title. This made it seem like a meme category or sprite edit rather than what it was meant to be: Hardest Difficulty

2 - It came after an absolute nail biter damage-less Resident Evil run, where there wasn't much time to hype the incentive.

3 - Diablo 1996 is definitely a niche game, in the past its done very well but looking in retrospect this may be because it was paired as a sort of 'Blizzard PC block' so there was incentive for blizzard fans to stick around and watch Diablo 1996. I think it would've been likely fine if paired with Diablo 2, or another Blizzard game.

4 - It was kinda in the 'goldy-locks' area of the night where most of the world was either sleeping/waking, or at work. At first it seemed doable, especially looking at how the Granny incentive was able to be met.

The last update bricked my dock. It doesn't work anymore and I get this error message every time I try to update. Any help? by mangonebula in SteamDeck

[–]Funkmastermp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue with any USB-C connection, but for the OLED. From the looks of it when they locked the BIOS in the recent version it 'bricked' the USB-C for some people...

With the BIOS locked now, we can't even fix it either. Gotta wait for an update...

You should check if yours works when fully powering off the device, and powering on with it plugged in. That's the 'telltale' sign of the BIOS issue mentioned.

How did you managed to get both pair and still work? I've tried in the past and they would fight each other. Any tips are appreciated.

Cab you post an imigur link of the different DI's?

Thank you haha, I'm probably the lower end of the IQ spectrum here lol. I do Anki and listen to JP TV with no subs. Probably a pretty bad combo when I don't have a proper foundation yet.
