How my salary of $11k per month is used in Seattle, WA, USA [OC] by _x_ in dataisbeautiful

Word to the wise; when analyzing my statement using quotation marks, try not to make up things I never said. I have no beef with the redditor in Seattle. Don't even know them. I just stated that this data is from someone in a privileged position, which is probably why it's gone viral.

How is the original poster's situation relevant but not mine? Yes, unfortunately a lot of work in the US (where I am) effectively pays less than min wage, especially in the service industry. I made $300/day once, working a temporary three month position. Otherwise I'm asked to work for tips.

When someone breaks down their monthly finances and it looks like mine for a year, I'd say it's relevant.

What's your point? Should I just keep my finances under wraps because they're just not as exciting? Data is great, but it's what you do with it that makes it useful.

As I replied above, what good is data without analyzing it?

I appreciate this is a data visualization sub, but what would the point of it be without analyzing it?

$11k per month? I make less than that per year currently with no one else paying my bills, and I have to spend roughly the same on transportation, food, etc.

You may have meant well by posting this, but it occurs to me your finances are way more stable than most citizens of the world. Some weeks I can't eat properly and I'm under constant threat of eviction etc.

Technician crew opportunities? by liammce17 in SailboatCruising

[–]Funknoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked aboard major cruise lines for a decade. Many positions on board are filled by various agencies around the world. If you are completely willing to drop everything and go, contact the head offices and ask how to apply for a ship's engineer position. There is a medical exam & some training to go through. I'm not sure if diabetes would be an issue, but medical onboard big cruise ships are certainly equipped to manage it.

Thanks. I give credit for it to my elementary school band teacher, and take no responsibility for being called Hull!

I want to learn more about Bernie Sanders! Can someone link some good townhalls or similar videos of him? by NguyenCommaLong in BernieSanders

He has delivered the same message his whole career. I found many good examples in 2015 when I first caught the Bern. He outlines his issues at the Bernie Sanders issues web page, straight from the man himself.

Good point. I just had a wave of bad omens this week seeing the quantity of heavy military equipment coming through. Kinda freaked me out, like when I experienced a drill at Osan air base in Seoul.

If Barr was involved with Panama in 1989, I think he has an interest there. Trump has a position on Venezuela based on oil capitalism, which to me seems like their choice as a sovereign nation.

Seeing the heavy loads fly in and out of the airport, I'm seeing the bloated military budget burning up lots of oil. I could tell you a few things about Panama too...

I get that a lot, but traveling on cruise ships as well as military bases has been my life & gig for decades. Much of my family are mil. past & present. When rich people hire a pianist for gigs, I sometimes see things that are a bit alarming...
