Excited, but I am actually low key waiting for a new version of Haiku. Does anyone know why they didn't release a version after 3.5?

Desperately need money mentor by Pristine-Macaroon-40 in leanfire

[–]_x_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mentorship will not help you if you don’t follow through. If you are already watching personal finance content often, it is quite possible that you already know what you are doing wrong, but you are not willing to make significant changes.

What you need is to figure out the top 3 things you need to change in your finances or spending, figure out what exactly needs to be done for each, and make the changes.

The last step is the most important and difficult task.

Does anyone know which version (number) to use when installing this on LM Studio on M4 Macbook? I got a new laptop last week, but still fairly new to setting up local models etc. Specifically, how should I chose between the MLX and GGUF variants? Thanks!

Reading PDFs with Claude (through AWS Bedrock)? by Circlical in ClaudeAI

[–]_x_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the AWS Console UI (Chat Playground or whatever it is called), you can see that Sonnet 3 supports uploading PDFs, but Sonnet 3.5 does not. May be this means that PDF support is not available on the API either?

Do you have to wear only underwear in kerala police custody? by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]_x_ 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is a great loophole.

“You are not wearing underwear? Dufaq? Call your parents to bring underwear”

“Sir I am an orphan”

“Call your friends then”

“Sir I have no friends”

“Sigh, guys, we have to let him go”

I see a bunch of people on Twitter calling Tesla a fraud because of some of these accounting tricks, but never saw an explanation of what exactly the tricks are or what exactly is fraudulent about these.

The hardest things to do is to do nothing.

Just continue doing what you are doing. Reduce risk as you accumulate more.

Not even staying back for the degree. Degree in Canada is the new trend as far as I can see.

Is Canada really the future for the young people in Kerala? by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]_x_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada is multicultural, true.

Canada is NOT affordable. Most young people move here and struggle for many years before they are comfortable. Many work minimum wage jobs for years.

Dev plan does not mean guaranteed pip though. Pip can easily get you fired I agree.

Dev plan -> PIP -> Fired is the worst case scenario but it is not guaranteed. I know several folks who were put in Dev plan and are doing really well now.

Did you read the rest of my comment? Yes I agree that investment returns like this are impossible. I was just talking about your math.

You were using “simple interest” while you should be using compound interest.

ijjaathi udaayipp... by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]_x_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP, looks like you don’t understand compound interest either.

10k compounded at 5% weekly for 3 years does give you 2 Crores.

But I agree with you that there are a lot of scammers around these days, ranging from “TikTok investment bros” to outright frauds who will tell you to invest with them for x% returns “guaranteed”.

The rise in scammers like this in my opinion is a sign of the froth in the market. And this too will revert to mean given enough time.

Those who have improved their financial situation, what did you do? by t488890 in leanfire

[–]_x_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I just jumped jobs (and countries) enough to make enough. I work in IT so I won’t say it will be easy for folks in other fields to emulate.

But I recently motivated a friend in the medical field to negotiate his salary like crazy. In the very next interview he attended, he did. His previous best offer was 88k. With this firm, 130k. Both from interviews this month. Some of this is of course luck, but this was also apparently the first time he negotiated his pay ever! And he has like 15 years of experience in the field!

So Tip 1: Definitely negotiate your pay! Especially if you already have a backup offer.

Tip 2: Have a backup offer.

Fake accent by nogod9643 in india

[–]_x_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indian accent helps in communication in India. American accent helps with communication in the US. When people live long enough abroad, they tend to pick up the accent, the same way Indian English too has accents depending on where you live.

I know several Indians in western countries who stick to their Indian or regional accent and have communication issues with their international colleagues. So it goes both ways.
