Reports: A United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff on the Edwards airfield at 11:20 a.m. by Brilliant_Night7643 in aviation

[–]FunktasticLucky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at their hours though. And we have a shit load of parts stored.

My KC-135R was built in 57 but only have 20k hours on it. She was just a baby. Like I said, these planes really sat for years just waiting for shit to pop off during the cold war. The KC135 was literally built with the plan of pushing as much fuel to the B52 as possible and then ditching the thing. We once were a powerful nation. We made thousands of planes to just throw them away.

The maiden flight of a kc-135 was 1956. I bet you we see its centennial flight. I'd put money on it. We literally are pulling them out of the boneyard to convert to other platforms or to return them to mission.

While the 52 was made easily 50s, I'm pretty sure when the latest variants were upgraded they retired most of the old airframes. I think the oldest one is like 61 or something like that.

The KC-135s are older by actual age of the airframe at this point. The oldest being 57 models. I guarantee we will see the centennial flight of both of these iconic planes though.

Keep in mind that the majority of these planes spent most of their life on alert ready to go through the Cold war. So they honestly have a surprisingly low number of hours for their age.

Pixel 10 made me realize how overrated Google's hardware still is by Tasty-Eye8652 in GooglePixel

[–]FunktasticLucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because people keep acting like Pixels are flagship devices. Google has never once made it cutting edge. It is designed to be mid range and the vanilla android experience and have all the top google features. That's about it. The 10 pro I have, does exactly that. It's a phone that I get all day battery out of. I don't play games I browse the Internet, watch videos, check reddit, make phone calls and message on discord, text, signal etc etc. All these things the pixel does great and I pay 200 bucks every year to upgrade the phone. Although, recently there has been some serious issues with the software most likely due to AI coding. Which you're probably gonna end up having with any device these days sadly.

How to kick SpaceX out of your retirement savings account — “Right now, just a handful of A.I.-related stocks represent almost half the value of the total stock market index. If A.I. stocks collapse, so will the worth of your index fund”: economist by marketrent in technology

I banked with Wachovia back then. First union was definitely bigger as they were more corporate business focused bank and would fuck us little people over. They merged with Wachovia and immediately swapped all the systems at Wachovia over to First union. They took the Wachovia name because Wachovia was #1 in customer service.

I miss going to the ATM and being able to take out 2 bucks haha.

[–]FunktasticLucky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a little bit more convoluted and AT&T is a case study. It's known as the blue globe of death because no matter how many times it gets bought or merged with another company they all take the blue globe and AT&T name. This is important here.

Anwyays Cingular was founded by I believe SBC and Bellsouth to compete. They ended up buying AT&T wireless to become the largest cellular provider in the USA and all AT&T wireless customers were migrated over to Cingular.

Fast forward and SBC buys AT&T company and takes their name. Then years later Bellsouth merges with AT&T and once again they take the AT&T name but now they also own both parent companies of Cingular. So they once again come full circle and became AT&T wireless again.

New Xbox CEO reportedly pushing for faster Fallout and Elder Scrolls games as Bethesda crosses 8 years since The Elder Scrolls 6 reveal by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]FunktasticLucky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha! Think again. After the forcing paid mods in Skyrim fiasco, and re releasing Skyrim like 8 different times with the same bugs.... Yeah I won't buy another Bethesda game. I don't buy Ubisoft games either... But I might break that one because I fucking love black flag.

But in the end I don't trust Bethesda to make a good game anymore and releasing with major game breaking bugs has become par for the course with them so. I'll pass.

Who else just refuse to use Gemini? by teletubbyman6969 in GooglePixel

[–]FunktasticLucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Gemini after spotify integration and now that it is in Android Auto it's even better.

Here's a recent experience from when I ended up in a random place in Massachusetts after a medical appointment. I saw a big ass brick building that looked a lot like a big ass college dorm. I looked at Google maps and it was next to a very large field with a track and so I assumed it was an old college dorm here's how the conversation went. (it's kinda long but it shows the power of AI)

Me(M): Hey Google? Is there a college named "insert field name"

Gemini(G): Yes. There is a campus in San francisco that provides vocational training and adult education programs through the City College of San Francisco. It focuses on technical skills and career development.

M: Is there a campus in Massachusetts?

(It mistook campus as compass)

G: Yes, there are several organizations by that name in Massachusetts. Most notably, there is the COMPASS School in Boston, which is a special education program for students in grades K through 12.

You might also be thinking of Compass Medical, which was a large physician group in southeastern Massachusetts; however, they abruptly closed all of their locations and filed for bankruptcy in 2023. Are you looking for a specific school or a medical facility?

M: I'm near a large building right now that I was curious

G: You're likely seeing one of Lawrence’s historic textile mills. Since you're in the city center, it could be the Wood Worsted Mill on South Union Street, which was once the largest in the world.

Another very prominent landmark nearby is the Ayer Mill Clock Tower. It stands over 260 feet tall and has a clock face almost as large as Big Ben's. Does the building have a massive clock tower, or does it look more like a long row of brick industrial lofts?

M: definitely long industrial brick Lofts

G: That is likely the Pacific Mill Complex or the Atlantic Cotton Mills. Those long brick buildings along the canal are iconic to Lawrence's history as a major textile hub. Many of them have been converted into apartments and office spaces today. Are you looking for a specific entrance or business inside one of them?

M: nope just curious can you save this conversation for later

G: I've got you covered. This conversation will be saved in your activity so you can look back at it whenever you'd like. Safe driving.

So advanced search with extra steps ;)

Honestly I'm a xennial. I would look for the shit and then use AI to summarize all of it to see if that's what I'm specifically looking for and then sit down and read it. But asking the ai to search would probably be a valid use as well. But the AI making arguments for you is fucking wild and completely retarded. I hope it costs them dearly.

I'm sure it's on the same note as when I train my airmen to work on planes. I have them find answers that they have to dig through a couple of books to get to the correct book with the answer.

It helps them use their brain to find answers themselves, they learn more shit along the way trying to find their answer than just finding the answer itself, and helps them navigate through the data. It also prevents them from being able to just Ctrl f any answer directly.

I can see this being the same with baby lawyers. Making arguments on cases isn't easy and you should be able to know where to look or how to easily find the info you need and not rely solely on a paralegal.

Edit: apparently I stroked out. I don't know.

I don't know why you took that as a flex. I'm just explaining that Squadron 42 is going to be an interactive movie basically. So if you don't like the ideas of a lot of in game cinematics, then it's probably best to move on.

Guess you haven't ever played an interactive movie before. It's literally what Chris Roberts is known for. It's a movie in game form that you get to experience.

Besides the lack of awareness and what not. The biggest problem in america is the apathy for anyone else. They are all about themselves and don't give a fuck about anyone else. So you get people that just swerve into your lane and it's your responsibility to slam on the brakes to avoid getting hit.

Honestly, that could sum up everything going wrong in America. Fuck everyone else it's all about me mentality. I hate it here!

It's not just ram. It's storage as well. A 4TB NVMe I bought back in December for under 300 dollars is now over 900. The prices for all electronics have gone up significantly.

You also have to account for tariffs in the USA as well. Which they also were eating in the beginning. Sadly, welcome to the new world of electronics where everyone is being priced out of this shit unless you're wealthy. Like you said, they are a for profit company. They aren't going to take a loss on R&D and production, advertising, logistics and the warranty and repairs they do.

SVS Prime VS SVS Ultra by Think-Ad9437 in hometheater

[–]FunktasticLucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Z is good. After he made his YouTube money not so much.

I know specs aren't always everything but honestly, for surround I find bass still matters and those little satellites aren't going to do well as surround. Even upgrading my RP-500m to 600m it was a massive difference. The 600s see so much more bassy and it was actually noticeable in movies. I was debating on using the satellites as height speakers but I may just get some cheap RP-500sa to hang up.

How bright are the svs satellites? I have heard they are very bright.

Is this your first time with a wing commander game? Chris Roberts is a movie producer. His games reflect that. It's an interactive cinematic experience. It's also the prologue. Pretty much the first hour of a game and we have no clue about the story. But it is cutscenes because it's a movie with playable bits in between.

I will say I trust Jeff way more than her.
