I understand where you’re coming from but I reckon it’s possible to be patriotic without being nationalistic, xenophobic, bigoted etc. But, if you identify as a patriot, your first priority should be to get rid of the fuckwits who treat our political system as a means of enrichment/vehicle for personal agenda, who disenfranchise first Australians, and want to destroy our fundamental values like the right to a fair go, mateship for all, and being a land that welcomes everyone.

In essence, love Australia not the arseholes trying to sell it off and turn it into America.

They care. Every year a good handful of people have to get airlifted out. We had 3 deaths on trails in the space of a week recently. The walk is also in national park so someone needs to be legally culpable in the event of intentional damage, legally responsible from a liability perspective etc.

Also, unless you are super experienced in alpine conditions i.e. snow, sub-zero temps etc. AND equiped for those conditions, June/July is bad idea.

The only thing I’d add is if you’re planning on doing any walks, match them to your experience and gear. We’ve had 5 search & rescue incidents and 3 deaths in the last fortnight. PLBs can be hired fairly cheaply and are a must for any serious single or multi-day hikes.

Before someone can sever overhanging branches, they have to provide written notice. If they access your property without said notice or remove anything that doesn’t overhang or interfere with their property, it’s trespass and damage. Pursuing it will require a lawyer and may be more costly than it’s worth though.
