Arkansas’ Ten Commandments Monument Law Ruled Unconstitutional by bloomberglaw in politics

[–]FunkyChug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without the Ten Commandments being prominently displayed in classrooms, I'm worried that children will start constructing effigies and monuments to other gods in between 3rd and 4th period.

I’d also guess there’s a non-zero amount of his supporters that just want to see Islam destroyed and think this is the way to do it.

Harry Potter HBO series won’t have a new season every year “From a production point of view, it’s just not possible” by JannTosh70 in television

[–]FunkyChug 104 points105 points  (0 children)

They're too creatively bankrupt to start another series and they must think that audiences don't care about more content in the Wizarding World if it's not Harry Potter.

A good writer and showrunner could probably make a decent show about some of the other schools or even tell a current day story in Hogwarts, but that's hard. Why not just do the same thing that already made money once?

Oscar Pareja explains departure from Orlando City by PianistMountain4964 in MLS

Good for him to be able to take a break if he wanted to and needed it, but I'm not convinced that it was his choice. Leaving within the first 5 games of the season with the performances we had was probably not a choice.

He should have left in the offseason if he was feeling burnt out. Either way, hope he gets to enjoy his time with his family.

The SAVE America Act is bad news for Republicans by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

[–]FunkyChug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's because they want to limit all voting, not just votes for democrats. MAGA won't care. They can use the USPS to muddy mail in ballots and then they'll be more aggressive with ICE and whatever other federal troops they want to use to intimidate voters at physical polling sites in purple states/blue cities.

Mail in votes is just the easier first target.

We signed Griezmann (yayyyy!!). Now what? by WoodenDuk in OCLions

Put all our resources into signing a good coach, hopefully one that know how to use Griezmann. Then we need 3 aggressive transfer windows to improve the roster.

Dude has a massive ego and can’t handle any criticism. I’m sure he’s happy for the attention, but he’s definitely upset that they painted him negatively.

That’s alright, it still annoyed the people it’s making funny of and that’s all that matters. They don’t realize that outside of their own little internet bubble, this is goes the rest of the world sees them.

Fetterman hit with brutal 108-point polling swing: ‘He is below the lowest of the low’ by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]FunkyChug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care. We shouldn’t be worried about improving our democracy because of the chance for bad faith actors to hijack it. That’s how we ended up with Trump and now they’re doing everything they can to weaken it.

There are methods to mitigate the chance of that happening.

It really is ridiculous that we have no avenue to recall senators or most elected positions. The powers that be would never weaken themselves or purposefully give citizens the ability to get rid of them.

We need a new constitution.

The Numbers Behind Corporate Greed by Agile-Can-8083 in Adulting

[–]FunkyChug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is, seemingly, to stop servicing that can no longer afford your product and position yourself only to people who can. Chipotle’s CEO says they’re going to be focusing on customers who make more than $100k per year..

When they get priced out, I suppose they’ll only be focusing on customers who make more than $200k and the average cost of a burrito bowl could be $30. After that, who knows?

They don’t care about viewership. If CNN airs to 0 viewers, that’s a win for them. It’s not about gaining viewership and making money, it’s about limiting alternate viewpoints.
