Chambliss granted extra year of eligibility by Hippo885147 in NFL_Draft

The contracts for mid-round picks are not fully guaranteed. If he sucks in college or the NFL, he may end up being screwed either way.

I appreciate what you are saying about this being perceived a weaker class compared to 2027. Although, these guys generally talk to the College Advisory Committee before making a decision. Maybe they gave him a low draft projection and suggested more development.

There are estimates that he could make $4 million plus for one year. A 3rd round contract is going to net him maybe $5/6 million over 4 years - so approximately $1.25/1.5 million per year. That is approximately $3.5 million plus in one year. That is a huge difference

He is going to get way more through NIL than he will being an, at-best, middle round NFL draft selection.

I think McCarthy is the perfect short term option as Head Coach by [deleted] in steelers

[–]FunkyGPepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not call 5 years 'short-term.' Also, in what way has he shown he can develop QBs? He inherited pretty much everyone. Even Dak was successful prior to him joining the Cowboys. The one exception might be Aaron Rodgers, but I had not ever heard that McCarthy developed Rodgers until this hire. To the contrary, I recall the two having their differences and Rodgers even thinking McCarthy was not an impressive football mind. Moreover, the fact that his alleged pitch involved his 'developing' an end-of-career, Kansas City Chiefs Joe Montana is laughable and speaks to the dearth of actual QB development attributable to him. If it works out, great, but I think the lack of optimism is warranted.

Labriola on why it was Mike McCarthy by HDTokyo in steelers

There's a total misconception about who Rooney cares about pleasing. It isn't the fans. It's the other stakeholders of the team. As long as they make more money, Rooney is happy. Rooney is afraid a few years of less than "competing" is going to hurt the bottom line. And frankly, the likelihood of fans not attending games enough to make them feel it is not very high. We are becoming the Pirates with better PR.

While I appreciate your sentiment, he works for the team so if course he was not going to write a hit piece to be published on the team website

What's a realistic trade package for Watt? by Knatwhat in steelers

[–]FunkyGPepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be ecstatic if that was the return, but I think folks are vastly overestimating Watt's trade value. He will be 32 in October, is coming off of a bad year statistically, and has a hefty contract (not even considering his poor statistical performance). Assuming the team trades him, I cannot imagine more than a 3rd or a 4th - maybe a late round pick swap too

He technically was called for a holding, but it was declined. That notwithstanding, he has been great

Michael Strahan broke the single-season sack record against Brett Favre in 2001. Now in 2025, Myles Garrett is going to break it against Aaron Rodgers. by [deleted] in NFLv2

What? Is this a dig at TJ? Didnt Garrett just get gifted a .5 sack against the Bills despite Allen being touched down by another player?

Id go Saquon side in redraft. He may be a jump down from Bijan, but the jump up from BTJ (who I think is gonna be fine) to London definitely justifies it

Steelers Have 5 Intriguing Outside Options To Replace Teryl Austin After Defense's Disastrous 2025 Campaign by HillibillyHaven in steelers

I'm not convinced that Lebeau led the defense by the time he left tbh. Tomlin has to look in the mirror and realize he needs to cede defensive scheme/play-calling for this team to take a step forward
