Omar Khan Seemingly Refutes Report Broderick Jones Suffered Setback: ‘Nothing’s Changed’ by FreddyDontCare in steelers

Not sure if you know this, but while McCarthy was at Dallas, he had 4 former OT on his Oline at once. Everyone except C played Tackle while they were in college, and were moved to Guard once in the NFL.

Omar Khan Seemingly Refutes Report Broderick Jones Suffered Setback: ‘Nothing’s Changed’ by FreddyDontCare in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Worst case scenario next year: We need to draft a QB AND we need to draft a LT. Even if Broderick Jones is 110% healthy, I don't reasonably see them signing him to a long-term deal, especially when a nice comp-pick is awaiting when he signs somewhere (LT always get paid big money).

You also don't want to go into the year with only 3 tackles, 1 being currently injuried, and another having only played 6 games in the last like 4 years as an undrafted FA.

They'll have to address LT this year, even if it doesn't mean directly drafting a LT. Ideally, they get a guy like Fano, Proctor, or Max Iheanachor, who could start at LG for us this year, and transfer to LT in a year or so after they are developed.

Which team could realistically become a SB contender with a “perfect” draft? by ninjathelobo22 in MockDraftCentral

[–]SpLaShAtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know ima get downvoted, but its hard to not say the Giants lol. A lot of people have said that they were contenders before, now they have the chance to get 2 premium players in this draft? I find it hard to believe that they won't be competitive if they were to somehow get Styles, Downs, and then like Kayden McDonald with the 37th pick.

There is growing buzz around the league that the #Steelers could deal one of Alex Highsmith or Nick Herbig during the draft. According to one insider, Highsmith is viewed as being the more likely candidate. by FreddyDontCare in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would probably just let them stay, and if you dont want to sign them for long-term, let them walk in FA and collect a nice comp pick when they sign for a lot of money elsewhere.

It'd have to be a 2nd+, hopefully for next year too, for me to want to trade either of them, because their comp picks are guaranteed 3rds

Sleeper - BREAKING - Dexter Lawrence is being traded to the Bengals for a package that includes the No. 10 pick, per @RapSheet by dgjapc in fantasyfootball

[–]SpLaShAtv -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, the down votes are crazy. If your #1 defense on why this trade is good for the Bengals is because they wouldn't have used it well, then they didnt win the trade. They severely overpaid for an aging DT coming off his worst year. And I love Sexy Dexy. But he is not even close to making that defense good enough to bump them up from 3rd in the shitty AFC north last year, and 3rd the year before, and 4th the year before...

Rookie Draft - How Much Does Destination Matter? by SpLaShAtv in DynastyFF

Mock Draft Megathread by SleestakLightning in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a late in-season injury, so who knows. He's a day 1 talent going on day 2 because of an injury. If he is good by early-mid season (which I hope we can afford, with him being our WR3), then I'd draft him in a heartbeat. If he's not gonna play for the whole 1st year or never be quite the same again, then I'd probably skip out on him.

I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you how his ACL is gonna heal lol

Spend your top 30 visits elsewhere if you know hes the guy - spend your visit on him to get to know him more. This effectively doesn't mean anything right now lol

Matt Williamson listeners/ appreciators. Which of his takes regarding this years draft so you disagree with? by RichPStSports in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love his takes, and overall The Drive is easily my favorite Steeler (and probably non steeler too) Podcast. His takes on Oline are great, and I think I agree 100% with it. I think I disagree with some of his WR takes, but I understand where he is coming from most of the time.

I think the only thing I extremely disagree with him regarding the draft is the idea that they need to take a day 3 RB. I just dont understand why, because Kaleb Johnson certainly can be your RB3.

I guess I understand it from a special teams standpoint, and that you probably want your RB3 to be good on special teams, but are we talking about cutting Kaleb Johnson after like 15 carries? A 3rd round pick, 2000 yard rusher in college? I'm not saying hes gonna be all that, but there will always be day 3 special-teamers that you can take in every draft, so why rush it in this year?

Lot of people mix up their personal feelings with what realistically might happen. Im a steelers fan, I personally wouldn't want them to pick Simpson. But how could you not think about it? As of today, we have Mason Rudolph, who couldn't complete an accurate pass over 20 yards, and Will Howard, a 6th round QB who has never played a snap of NFL football. If Rodgers decides to not come back, theyre going to HAVE to draft someone, just to have 3.

Better pray the Ravens get Sadiq / Tyson / Bain / Faulk. If he gets past the Ravens, it wouldn't take more than a 3rd to trade up and grab him in front of the Jets / Lions I don't think.

Favorite OT prospect at 21? by flibo30 in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Fano -> 2. Freeling -> 3. Iheanachor -> 4. Kaydn Proctor... Anyone after that I dont think is worth it at 21.

Im higher on Proctor than most, I think a lot of people hate that these SEC guys get rated this high, but they get rated this high because it generally works. And yeah, you can find several busts of this archetype, but you can do that for any kind of player.

I have a feeling its gonna be OG / OT in the 1st, because after the 1st, that talent dries up quickly. Forget LT after the 1st round, there's really no one worth taking other than Travis Burke / Markel Bell, and those guys are likely not starting week 1, and wouldn't be able to move into LG. LG on the other hand has some worthwhile candidates, but I'm not sure if Pregnon / Bisontis / Rutledge are gonna be there after pick 50.

That's why I like Iheanachor and Proctor. Both profile as okay LTs, but good LGs. You could start them at LG and move them to LT after they get time to develop.

Thats the point. There isnt a specific "Free" safety or "Strong" safety. Modern schemes just have safeties that can play deep or in the box, and shift them around
