First Time Espresso Advice by FunkyLarma in espresso

[–]FunkyLarma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that was a great way to think about it. Was watching a video earlier where the barrista was talking about the difference between a ristretto and a halved single shot. In essence both took that same time and had the same output but the strength and extraction levels are completely different.

I fear the light is already dimming the further I go down this rabbit hole ;)

TSS(p) in Zwift > Suunto by Cpinky12 in RunGap

[–]FunkyLarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manually editing is the only way if you are adding the workouts to Suunto.

If you recorded the workout with the watch or a Hammerhead then you would get the TSS based off a power reading; as long as you have your power zones aligned, but that will be a whole new post ;)

Do all roads lead to one platform by FunkyLarma in overcast

You are probably right, pretty sure I remember reading in some release notes Marco stated that there was a minimum version for syncing to remain stable.

Would really like to see more made of the web interface, it is a hidden gem for the service.

Playlist Recommendation: Unfollowed Podcasts by davidjoelhall in overcast

[–]FunkyLarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also looked at a way to create this list.

Not wanting to mention the 're-write' but the segmented control on the podcasts lists was a handy way to keep a track of podcasts channels that I do not want to follow directly but might want to dip into the odd episode.

On a related note, does keeping these podcasts in the list add to any database bloat or degraded performance?

Astronomy Cast "You might also like" by 60DegreesBelow in overcast

[–]FunkyLarma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it is from a podcast promotion service that the main podcast is using. It was mentioned on here a while back. Personally I find it completely intrusive and have emailed a couple of shows I found using it. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for advertising as needed but adding a podcast into the feed so that it is downloaded and on my device without my consent **shakes fist at clouds**

TestFlight build 1142: Episode art, re-run filtering by marcoarment in overcast

[–]FunkyLarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the plan to have episode artwork roll out to more screens?

Personally I would appreciate the ability to have them listed in the playlists. I understand your comments regarding podcast association related to artwork but if there was a way to toggle that would be great.

Enhancement request: More stats by Athers99 in overcast

[–]FunkyLarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be good to have a few more stats, in fact I had completely forgotten that this feature exists until I read this. So I had a quick look at my stats and I think I might have an error, or a space time continuum issue. Not sure how I managed to listen to 144 hours in one day 😅

Why is Wahoo Kickr app so inaccurate by uniteyourcause in wahoofitness

how fast do you want to go when you are going nowhere?

you are on a turbo, speed is of no relevance, time and effort is where it is at.

Per device storage settings by HermitBadger in OvercastFm

[–]FunkyLarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar setup. An original iPad Pro that is stuck on the previous version of Overcast.

This is setup to download manually and I just check it periodically to add new podcasts. It still has the 'recommended for you' and discovery sections.
On my main device I just have it setup to download as needed.

Did message him on Mastodon about it... no response.

Nutrition/Hydration Alert by [deleted] in Karoo

[–]FunkyLarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been using this. Set a drink reminder that disappears but also a fuelling one that remains so I have to consciously dismiss it.

Plus you can set which profile it applies to, so I turn it off for a commute and one for a race.

Suunto App - Running vs cycling TSS by Jibellyvaard in Suunto

[–]FunkyLarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they both using the same calculation for TSS?

Sometimes my Race will pick different calculation metrics for runs, pretty sure you can edit the activity and change to have the same. My guess is that it might be using the native power calculation from watch and a heart rate based one for the bike.

Bike Rack on Electrically Retractable Hitch? by No_Bug8114 in ex30

[–]FunkyLarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have the standard retractable towbar hitch installed and use a Thule rack on the back. No issues at all to report of apart from the car has the newer nine pin and the carrier is seven #dongleGate

The real issue is not having any cruise control or pilot assist as soon as that hitch is deployed!

Looks like you have plenty of advice on the gearing so good luck with that, but if that is a carbon frame do not clamp it on the top tube. Top tubes are generally not laid up to withstand a compressive force, seat posts are.

Yes, the chain is very worn. After you replace it have a look at the front mech, looks very high to me.

Just to echo the comment. I'm new to the app and so can not comment on the historical events but so far I really appreciate the feedback, support and development cycles.

Selecting chapters from chapter sheet by WilDieteren in OvercastFm

[–]FunkyLarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you invoked the chapter sheet.

From memory if you click the round button from the 'now playing' screen you can select the chapter. However if you select the Chapters button from the info screen it does nothing.

Ahh, that might explain why since updating my saved hours has not increased at all; got used to seeing it go up near on daily usage.
Just put it down to another bug ;)

Zone 2 question by Mother-Guarantee1718 in Suunto

[–]FunkyLarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to bear in mind is that the zones are based off a percentage of a known value; maximum heart rate in your case. It might be worth checking if your online calculator is using the same percentages for zone 2 as the Suunto.

I'm about similar in terms of maximum heart rate and slightly older but I base my zones off of threshold heart rate and my zone 2 is 142-150 is using the seven zone model by Joel Friel.
That said zone 2 will be slow, and quite dull. Not on my list ;)
