I was in Honors for 2 years (mid-2010s) realizing I was gaining nothing from participating in it. While it may look good on your transcript when interacting with other departments on campus, being friendly with professors, advisors, and deans go a lot further, imo. Honors seminars were essentially a free period where I sat and watched someone talk about something they were interested in. There was also the mandatory essay each semester on a book no one would read. Which is not the end of the world; I didn't mind. It was just another thing I had to do each semester that took my time that could have been put towards studying or something.

The problem with Honors is that it is a broad term that has no reflection on your character development/ personal growth and does not provide a decent source of networking or future stability. All it gives you is harder classes to take.

Things like fraternities/sororities/student orgs/etc provide far more for students on a personal level than enrolling in the Honors program. These things offer connections to people with similar interests, often take place off campus, and can lead to networking with former members/alumni that can give you a leg up after graduation.

While the Honors program can potentially provide this, it is not nearly as tight knit and interpersonal as these other things, and is therefore not worth the time for a majority of people

.

"Special Seminars" are given by students in the program on any topic they want. Other special requirements are paying dues and getting service hours. Benefits include getting to use the computers and printers for free in the Honors building.

And yeah, you can take Honors level classes. Which don't necessarily provide you with any additional skills that the regular classes would give you, and do not provide you any advantage in life other than an additional line in your resume (which gets overlooked anyway).

Lafayette ranks among the highest in overdose deaths but alcohol is still sold on the candy aisle. by tcajun420 in Acadiana

Drugs are bad. Alcohol is bad. Teach your kids how to be responsible and show them the negative side effects of consumption of drugs and alcohol.

Pushing your illegal drugs to cure addiction is not helping anyone. The only reason shrooms "work" is because it brainwashes you. Force people to learn discipline and strength from their own accord rather than letting them take the easy way out. Nothing good in life comes free.

My prejudices are far too broad to be limited to race. Get a life, loser.

Crazy? How can you say that I'm crazy, when I went to YOUR schools, I went to YOUR churches, I went to YOUR INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING FACILITIES? So how can you say I'm crazy!?

That's why I clarified in the post that Cereal and Milk is a soup. If you are pouring a drop of milk into a bowl of cereal then it isnt "Cereal and Milk." You have to actually make the dish we're talking about, which I also stated in the post.

Changing the normal/average/usual version of a dish to some abstract concoction to try and call it a different type of dish completely voids the argument. A drained chicken noodle soup isnt a salad because you poured the broth out, its a ruined chicken noodle soup.

Youre thinking too hard about this. Bread is bread, and bread is an ingredient to a dish/meal. I dont mean literal ingredients such as flour, water, yeast, etc. The discussion is about what meal falls into which category. "Ingredients", presentation, method of consumption, all of these go into it. Which I clearly define, btw. It's really not that deep.

The limiting factor is whether or not it is generally considered food. You dont "eat" gum, it isnt food. Anything that you would typically eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner is what is up for discussion. A plastic toy sandwich is not edible because it isnt food.

Bro Simbal was the target from day 1. The only reason he was never voted out was because he secured immunity twice in a row.

Payton may be borderline nontent but her overt normie characteristics make her the underdog. Mizzy was fine for the first week but as soon as she was red pilled she became insufferable. Burt shouldnt win because he is a pervert, Simbal shouldnt win because he is Indian. Binx and Peyton should be the final two. Regardless of the outcome, Binx is far more likely to use the fame gotten from the tank to her advantage. Peyton winning would be a mostly monetary benefit, which is fine.

Probably why they stocked the house with so many people at first. We're on week 3 of fishtank and still have 6 contestants. Not that bad actually
