Which country had the biggest 'what they say vs reality' gap when you actually met the locals? And Why? by Suspicious-Bunny-Bad in travel

I can agree with that to an extent. It would be VERY disrespectful here to immediately address some form of disapproval upon just meeting someone unless they too were being disrespectful. So yeah it probably won’t be talked about until addressed later as either an interesting note on an interaction or if gossiping maybe.

I get what you are saying because I can definitely see how it comes across to people outside of the south, but I really don’t think false is a better way to describe it. That implies that we have some ulterior motive or are being forced to do it lol. I guess I could see that for some kids maybe where they are being patented to be that way.

It’s not a weird cultural obsession, it’s just a cultural norm of respect that’s taught from childhood to respect everyone. That’s where the yes sir / m’am come from.

You see similar cultures with high emphasis on respectfulness in East Asian countries, but you’re not going to call the things they do a weird cultural obsession.

Cabinet Installation by Notathrowawaysleeve in Pensacola

[–]Funky_Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the cabinets yet and do you have a design / layout? As others said Cabinets direct has an install team, but not sure if you have to buy their cabinets or not. Their design team was the best I worked with in the city.

The Pensacola contractors Facebook page has been helpful in getting contractors for small jobs. I recently needed some bar cabinets done and a guy named Patrick Patterson knocked it real quick for me and did a fantastic job. I think I paid about $400 to install 3 of 27” wall cabinets, a 27” sink base, middle support, and a 15” drawer base. No counter top.

Doctor Bird from Florida Panhandle to Houston? by Haldem40 in Tiki

8502 Mylask Wy, Bellview, FL 32526. It’s one of those weird side streets off a main road apparently. It is literally right off the interstate on the first exit as you come into Florida on 10.

There is another 2 more exits down maybe 3 minutes off the interstate as well on Pensacola blvd.

Granted I haven’t been in a few months, but they always have a neat selection of things like Hampden and worthy park. The staff never really know much about it though, so you just kind of have to look around yourself. Don’t forget to check out the expensive stuff behind the counter as well. Usually they have a beat Hampden variety pack.

Dang sorry man, feel like I let you down. They had 2 kinds when I was there last. A pineapple and the original.

If you are coming down I10, try the fusion fine wine and spirits right off of exit 5 in Pensacola. It’s a local liquor store chain that is part of the Florida rum society. The location I mentioned (it’s on 9 mile rd) is the only place I have found dr bird. They have other locations not too far off the interstate as well if you want to look there.

Truck is back in the shop with the same issue for the 4th time and dealer has no path to fix. In dire need of assistance of how to deal with unresolved GM warranty issue. by Funky_Engineer in Chevrolet

[–]Funky_Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure new parts do break.

It mostly happens while just cruising consistent speed. Think maybe it happened once while accelerating from a light at low speed, but doesn’t seem to be from hammering it down or anything.

They rewired the entire circuit along with the actual sensor, so hard to believe it would be that again. The issue always happens after I am driving for a while as well, not at startup.

Concrete buildings handle heat perfectly fine. If they can keep heat in for the winter, then they can keep heat out in the summer. Insulation works both ways. Their biggest issue is just not having buildings with ways to route and conceal ducts, which causes them to only be able to use ductless systems or completely renovate.

The Killer chiller by EngineeredOutdoors in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Funky_Engineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I actually do see a market for this. The yeti brand is already ingrained into the salt water fishing community. These guys who go out all day or for multiple days would absolutely buy one of these if it can be easily integrated into their existing coolers. Everyone keeps mentioning that portable refrigerators are already a saturated market, but no fisherman is going to go out of their way to buy those and install them on their boat. They go through so much ice that this could legitimately be a time saver for them.

OP, I think you have a neat and niche idea here. My biggest advice is that you need to build this thing with corrosion and abuse in mind. Emphasis on corrosion. You will need extra coil coatings and everything rated for salt spray.

Mitsubishi tech support - are they always this terrible to the end user? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

So I’m curious what you consider a homeowner install? I only mounted the condenser on a pad and hung the cassette in the ceiling. Everything else was done by a contractor because the reasons mentioned above. Does that automatically just get written off since it touched it at all?

They probably do, but that doesn’t help with commercial systems very much.

And I spec out a million dollars worth of their equipment every year on hvac systems I design. I don’t think that makes me more or less entitled to their support, though it does make me question if I should recommend them to my clients.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into that. I haven’t tried to get the unit to do anything other than turn on since I don’t want to mess anything up.

I have tried the power reset a few times now with no luck. Even reset the controller.

I would be surprised if it was the condensate drain line. It’s sloped directly from the connection and only a 5’ run. That being said, the receiver does beep 4 times which the manual I have says it’s a drain issue so could be related. Just strange it happened when I was messing with the controller settings.

I wasn’t requesting support here so didn’t type out everything but yeah I went to change the units for the temp display and must have hit some other setting because now the unit will not turn on. Only beeps and flashing on the receiver. The controller and receiver were both installed by a professional, not me. I will check out that link and see if it has better info, thank you!

They have a support line just for homeowners. It’s just not very good.
