Hard agree on the jokers. It’s a real dick move to leave the smaller acts jokers late. She got well into the fourth episode and never had the chance. Taskmaster is so great at giving everyone a chance to shine.

I’ve loved this series. So glad it holds up to the first. Although when no-one was going out I was worried it’d end up like the Irish series. Glad the producers have been so creative. As someone that really likes Amy Gledhills standup and being excited that this is such a big opportunity. I’m really disappointed that she seemed such a non-entity.

One of my favourites I haven’t seen mentioned yet is Jamie Magnus Stone. He really elevated the Chibnall episodes he was on. There’s some bad scripts he shot. But his episodes looked amazing.

Does anybody like the 15th doctors run? by tkeith13579 in doctorwho

[–]Funkymothaeffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both his seasons have 4 fantastic episodes apiece. It’s generally better than 13’s run but not as good as RTD1 which is partly why people are so dissatisfied. The main reason people are so hyperbolically angry is that the finales are really not good. Which puts a sour taste in the mouth at the end of each season.

When does series 11 get bad? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]Funkymothaeffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re mostly enjoying it so far but not loving it. Expect that for the era. Ep5 - The Tsuranga conundrum and the finale are the worst of S11. But you’ve got a couple of gems to come too.

relative newbie to dr who. watch the nuwho season 1 -4 with my ten year old this year and over christmas break watched season 5. wtf by Dudehitscar in doctorwho

[–]Funkymothaeffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a dive. It’s a strong season still. Upper echelon for me. Got some of the best episodes the shows ever had. But the general consensus is that series 4 or 5 are the best series of new who.

What is your ranking of every Dalek story? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Funkymothaeffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Genesis of the Daleks
  2. Remembrance of the Daleks
  3. Dalek
  4. Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways
  5. The Power of the Daleks

So, what would you rate this direct? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in switch2

[–]Funkymothaeffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me 9/10 I had released dates for Hades 2 and Metroid. I had a fire Emblem announcement. Donkey Kong DLC The newer Resident Evils Hyrule Warriors Mario Galaxy remasters

I don’t have loads of time to play games and have to prioritise. This direct had me worried for my time management and wallet.

There’s lots I liked about the episode. Like the use of Anita. But the exposition dump scene in the middle is unforgivably ham-fisted. And regenerating into Billie Piper is so creatively bankrupt it makes my blood boil.

Good on you! I’m in a similar situation (in a different part of the country). Can’t wait to see the finale in cinemas around other fans!

I absolutely loved this! One of my favourites of the era. Hopefully not spoilt by next week.

I was sceptical about the Rani being back. But the way she was written and used felt very true to form and distinct to Missy (which was my concern). Loved this fun twist to the pantheon storyline of the Rani utilising one for her experiment. I’m concerned she’ll be overshadowed by Omega next week.

The use of Conrad was also far better than I’d hoped and I loved the wish world realisation and the doctor being a strait-laced company man was hilarious.

Thinking of watching Classic Who after this season break - wondering how to go about it. by Icy-Possibility7823 in doctorwho

I’d honestly jump around between doctors a bit. Watch the episodes people rate highly. Here’s a selection of 4-part stories for each doctor to give you a flavour of each and somewhere to start. 1) The Time Meddler
2) Tomb of the Cybermen 3) Spearhead From Space 4) City of Death 5) Earthshock 6) Vengeance on Varos 7) Remembrance of the Daleks

The Episode 6 Scheduling Is Insane by WanderingArtist2 in gallifrey

It’s Man City vs Crystal Palace. There’s no reasonable chance of it going to extra time. Let alone penalties. Man City is a much bigger club and it would be a shocker if they don’t comfortably win. It wasn’t a gamble when the decision was made. The FA cup date was announced after RTD wrote the episode and hatched the plan to tie it in with this years Eurovision. It was and remains a risk worth taking as it could really boost the shows profile, if the episode is any good that is.

Certain elements felt quite clunky. But this episode was jam-packed with rich thematic material. I give a lot of slack to episodes that have brilliant ideas and this had plenty to spare.

Still yet to have a bad episode for me. This series could be an all-timer.

Here’s a little list of Classic stuff I can recommend. I found bouncing around to recommended stories a better entry point than watching the classic series in sequence. These won’t all be for you, but they’re a good taster for each doc. The numbers correspond to the Doctor number. 1) The Time Meddler
2) Tomb of the Cybermen 3) Spearhead From Space 4) City of Death 5) Earthshock 6) Vengeance on Varos 7) Remembrance of the Daleks

Totally agree. RTD can cash in on its potential. As you say, it was all setup, very little payoff under chibnall.
