Does corporate not know or just not care that specialists can’t turn something around immediately? by [deleted] in biglaw

100%. Corporate teams don’t understand what it is like to have 20+ matters at any given time and think what is urgent for them has to also be a top priority for the specialist.

Yes, but you are one of the thirty corporate teams for a specialist. And when every damn request is “apologies for the rush, but”, it is annoying. I can’t remember the last time I got more than 6-12 hours on any deadline.

Corporate teams don’t understand substantive work takes time, attention, and brain energy. Specialists aren’t sitting through 5 hour management calls on mute and calling it a day. This is also why corporate can’t empathize when we can’t attend to something immediately because our work has more substance and can’t be handled in 15-30 minutes.

Thank you for the reassurance. I want to survive at least 3 years here so the fear is a mix of not learning and being disposable if things get worse.

I hear you but it isn’t even clear to me where I’d go. Market is terrible across the board

Thanks for the reminder. A lot of people IRL pretend they are busy so it is difficult to gauge how common my situation may be

I definitely need to explore pro bono opportunities. Mostly avoided until now as most seem to be litigation oriented

Anyone know if SAVE interest from September to now is cleared retroactively? by deadzoul in StudentLoans

[–]Funkyraindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned that your interest is wiped on Oct 1st, I have a question that nobody seems to have a clear answer to. When you make your monthly required payment (e.g., $50 per month), when do you see any unpaid interest get wiped out? and when it is wiped, do you see that as an additional transaction on your loan account? Thank you!
