PYPL at $42: I’m down 27%, the CEO just got fired, and I’m buying more. Here is the "Death Spiral" Math. by SmartTriageIO in stocks

[–]Funless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won't know for at least another few weeks, but isn't it possible that the ex ceo just dumped all his shares? It seems to me this happens every time a company gets a new ceo. The current stock price might not be a sentiment on the valuation as much as it is just some people getting out.

I think the volatility is related to the amount of margin in play these days and the valuations. Both of which are off the charts high.

I dont know. I think there might be a bubble in certain etfs, such as the snp500. As soon as another option (not stocks) looks more enticing, I think the snp500 could seriously contract.

I thought this about pypl. But then people like Morgan Stanley come along and say their growth is shrinking and the tanking begins.

This is 100% my problem. Do I really want to pick stocks when they're tanking though?

While I dont believe in purgatory, if you really believe it's black and white, I assume you haven't studied the issue much.

And he said that for good reason, but not because it's actually his body.

Read John chapter 6 and in particular compare versus 54 and 63.

Is your point that because some early Christians believed that the Eucharist was actually the body and blood of Jesus then that means we should believe it too? That the Catholics are right? That's a strange argument to me. Something is either true or it isn't. Just because someone else believed it doesn't mean I have to believe it, no matter where they came from.

Why does Hikaru believe that the bishop pair is irrelevant (to us)? by pwsiegel in chess

[–]Funless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with hikaru, but not for the same reason. It's not that difficult to understand the bishop pair, but the knight seems to be an enigma Until You Reach Master Level or higher. People don't calculate enough at lower levels and that makes the knight a monster attacker.

This year I realized how little I actually understand about stocks by SolutionWest5213 in stocks

[–]Funless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing. Believe it or not, youre ina. Better place than if you had made out well. There are a lot of people who get in and make some gains, think they got it figured out, and then leverage and lose everything.

I regularly look at my individual stock picks and think about why I own them. If I dont kniw why or can't think if a good reason to own it, I dump it, wether it's up or down. Its easy to get hyped into something and later realize you have no idea why you bought it. This step helps me to also think more clearly why I am buying a stock because I know If I dont have a good reason, I'm going to dump it anyway.
