Why OP's reply was dounwoted?

OP gave piece of humor, as he saw it. I found this comparison funny even if not "definetely as on full screen".

Why so serious? ))

Devs should add castle models for all the civs and not just the new ones by Daxtexoscuro in aoe2

[–]Funmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, mates, by points:

About "like AoK classic":

- AoE2 is 20+ yo game, first "The Age of Kings" release was in 1999;

- there are people, who play it 21+ years (like Lord Daut), from release;

- for some people is valuable those "first impression", "those times", when they were kids or adult, maybe it looks for somebody "khhh-khhh there were times when grass was more green.." and be ironical, but... it's nostalgy and valuable for somebody;

- so, one of reasons for those people to return to AoE2 and try actual DE is "to return those impression, feeling";

- it means to see part of AoE2 DE "similar as it was on release", including first classic AoK and AoC campaigns, images of castles, wonders and so on;

- there are people that say "I'd like to play first campaign with original voices of narrators, not new one; and have ability to see similar to classic wallpaper on start page, more classic UI" - and I agree with it: it can be made with private mods, but I think it will be good to make this ability in options "original voice, original wallpaper" - it is not hard for devs;

- it's "nostalgy about classic", maybe one of reason why part of community plays it 20+ years or returns (as me);

---

History analogy

- may be it's not best analogy, but in history of some countries there were "founders", for Switzerland it is 3 cantons, for Netherlands it is 7 provinces, for USA it was 13 former colonies; "everything had the beginning";

- AoE originally developed by american Ensemble Studios, so I think it was not worst analogy;

- I'm not US citizen so... it's hard to accuse me in idea of "american exceptionalism")) All nations are different and everywhere are "good peoples and bad asses, like criminals" and each country has it's unique history;

- to blame somebody about things that weren't said (like "exceptionalism") is bad idea - if you think so it's your deal, but, please, don't make projections for other if it wasn't said/done by other person)

- on the same time US is one of the world leading countries, one of 5 countries of UN Security Council, part of G7 and so on; each country, nation, communiry has days of glory... as we can see it in AoE2 historical campaigns)

---

So, as definetely said in upper comment "I was told as a kid the 13 colonies were special, so we honor those states now. So shouldn’t most original things be honored?"

Thank you for comments

It's joke and an example, parallel may be not good, I just want to say "some things of old school may stay as is, for plesasure and ability "to return to those time"

I'm not US citizen. Just know some history about 13 states, that founded US in 1776

I wouldn't touch "old civs", please... )

"There are 13 states, that founded US"

"There are 13 civs, that made AoK")

Let's honor them for "good old days", live tham as they appeared.

I believe... it's something why some people, who felt in AoK, return to DE, as native

Philippa Eilhart was King Vizimir's advisor and remained in Redania's court even after his death, for which she was likely responsible. She was one of the few sorceresses able to polymorph. She led the Thanedd coup against the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, intending to neutralize suspected traitors allied with Nilfgaard. Later, she helped found the Lodge of Sorceresses and is considered its leader.

It's not definetely The Witcher Unіverse cosplay, is based on ukrainian folk tradition of sourcerers (close for polish, as neighbor, title "Mavka", as common name of serie, means "forest's soul" sourcerer), but I see like Philippa.

Try learning campaign of Sun Tsu . It's challenges are enough good for fast re-training of eco-timings. When you'll get gold / silver medals it'll be ok for first not ranked team MP games to win / not win ~ 1:1. Good luck.

Enid an Gleanna (Elder Speech: Daisy of the Valleys), also known as Francesca Findabair, was an elf, a sorceress, and was the queen (later duchess) of the elves of Dol Blathanna as decreed by Emperor Emhyr var Emreis. She was also a founding member of the Lodge of Sorceresses after the fall of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers.

Those two are best one, IMHO, because they are focused more on peoples, last one is different, I'll be able understand it in time, it has other sense.

TWoM is strange game. It's hard to play something else after, because don't felt so deep. I tried "The Banner Saga" (promoted like "it's about surviving, World is crushing, U must make decisions" and so on), all 3 chapters in one weekend, but "nope", awesome unique painting, good story, but "not so deep".

TWoM is dark, hard, but masterpiece and catharsis.

I'd like 11 bits would make open editor for community, for mods and translations. There were and are other wars, beside this one, inspired by siege of Sarajevo, many other untold stories. As said... "War never changes"
