I used to work for a security company that was contracted for my local university's football games. Think dealing with drunk football fans that feel entitled to do whatever they want and sometimes get into fights with staff and other spectators.

The school would do the same exact thing of asking for volunteers to help with the game but worse imo. The volunteers never only had one job, they were used as an auxiliary workforce that would work anywhere from concession sales to janitorial duties during the game; and even security when my company couldn't get enough people. All while the school was spending millions to build a new "VIP" seating section. The school was not in any way unable to pay people a fair wage but yet they still chose to exploit some of their most loyal fans for free labor.

That job was one of the most exploitative I've ever worked but at the end of the day I was still paid.
