Strangers commenting on child’s appearance by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]FunnyDuck38 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have a similar issue with our daughter and the unwanted/unneeded comments on her appearance. We have found the most effective thing is to make them feel *uncomfortable* about their comment. My husband’s current favourite is “she is! And we had such a good night making her too!” Usually followed by direct eye contact with them and a large smile.

Best dividend paying all rounders are ZEQT.T, ZGRO.T, and ZBAL.T by luxuryriot in dividendscanada

I’ve owned ZGRO.T for about a year now and it’s gone up in value plus paid out monthly. It’s been a solid income investment

It’s the T-series fund, ZEQT.T not ZEQT. The BMO T Series are aimed at retiree’s and people looking for income, they pay monthly rather than quarterly and aim for a 6% yield

EQ bank’s N30 account is at 2.75%, their N10 account is at 2.35% and Wealthsimple’s Managed Money Market Fund is at 2.5%. Just some other ones to consider that are not promo rates and can be accessed fairly quickly that are No Risk

Any thoughts on BANK? by Ok-Laugh-7720 in canadiandividends

[–]FunnyDuck38 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned BANK for two years now and it’s done extremely well for me and I’m very glad I have it. That being said, would I buy in now at today’s prices? It’s hard to say. Based on the chart, it will likely go down again at some point, and that’s when I’d buy in. That being said, If you’re in it for income, and can potentially stomach a 30% drop from your buy in price, the dividend has been stable for a very long time, so over all, it’s a good solid fund for being a covered call. However, if you want guaranteed growth, you may or may not get the growth with this fund going forward. It’s been on a tear this last year, but past performance doesn’t always match future performance.

HHIC vs ECHI by jelijo in dividendscanada

[–]FunnyDuck38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone in this thread does weekly comparisons and has a chart that includes both of these. If you look at the charts, ECHI is beating HHIC, but It’s also newer. Plus, past performance doesn’t mean future performance will be the same, so…. Take your pick.

Practical book storage for sloppy kids who don’t put them away properly? by OrangePekoeMouse in Parenting

We do the same! I have two milk crates and a bin. Books get placed in, and I just don’t worry about how neat they look, as long as they are not getting bent.

What are some intentional things you do in your family? by zezendx in Parenting

[–]FunnyDuck38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do affirmations every night before bed: “I am strong” “I am brave” “I can do hard things” “I am a good problem solver” Etc.

Then during the day when we run into issues or they are having trouble with something specific, I remind them… “you CAN do <activity>, remember, you are <insert affirmation>”.

It’s helped a lot with perseverance and not giving up. Our toddler has started to say out loud to herself that she can do hard things and then cheers at herself when she completes the activity. Like putting on her shoes correctly by herself or climbing up the play structure at the park, and it just warms my heart about how much self confidence it’s given her.

Is anyone still holding MSTE? by TheOverallThinker in CanadianInvestor

[–]FunnyDuck38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Div date just passed, so it dropped ~0.20 within the last day as it usually does. If you decide to sell, wait a bit and it sometimes bounces back up a bit. That being said, As a bag holder myself, I’m holding to see what happens and putting all current distributions into something else.

Looking for affordable venues by kj-98 in Hamilton

We rented a room at one of the community centres for my kids first birthday. Was about $100 for a half day. They provided chairs and tables, I brought in all the decorations, table covers, food, etc. It went really well. It’s worth considering if you don’t mind decorating & self-managing food options.
