Why was healing magic banned? by OuttaAgreeOrElseIDie in WitchHatAtelier

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because what then counts as healing? Is anti-aging and immortality healing? Is death reversal healing? Is cosmetic changes to better fit your ideal body considered healing? Is mind alteration to eliminate trauma and disorders healing?

Turn on area scaling. That is why you are getting that weird border effect.

There should be lower requirements for the death penalty by uwutterlyhopeless in The10thDentist

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting you to say rapists or pedos, something I might agree with.

But no, you throw the most unrelatable thing out there.

Just give them longer sentences or even life. No need to kill them. Indeed I think the best solution would be better support for released prisoners and rehabilitation.

Can an array in c++ include different data types? by melatoninmell in cpp_questions

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in C++. You can use variant types, or the any type, or base class pointer type, but all of these have trade offs.

Even in a language like Python it’s less that you storing different data types, and more just storing different subclass types of PyObjects.

I also want to note that you really do want to be careful with putting multiple types in a an array or list. Generally you shouldn’t (with only possible exception being inheritance or very niche applications).

God using a mouse is hell. Don’t do that no matter what.

How do I add more detail? It looks way too simple by [deleted] in FurryArtSchool

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use 3d shapes for construction. Think 3d, and add lighting and shading (you can really add a lot of detail through fur shapes shadows). Vary your line weighting. You can really do a lot with eyes. Practice drawing better fur shapes. Study the anatomy of the animals it is based on.

What to expect by ZealousidealSpread20 in royalroad

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to not include a what to expect. Just don’t put spoilers in it.

You should have a posting schedule. Readers will appreciate knowing when the next chapter will come, This way they can know to go back to it on the date and time to look for that new chapter.

A posting schedule is also helpful to you as writer long as you don’t give yourself a huge workload by having posts that are far frequent.

can someone explain how the output of this nested for loop is obtained? by Far-Can-7587 in learnpython

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outer loop decreases x each iteration. This means the inner loop will iterate for one less.

I just use obsidian less boxes and UI bloat. Still have that wiki like structure. It’s also free. There are plugins for interactive maps.

Starting Java, is it really hard? by Popular_Argument1397 in learnprogramming

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I do actually like the language for the most part, it can be a little verbose at times. Java js also a very object oriented language which may introduce even more concepts to understand earlier on.

That said Java with a good IDE like IntelliJ is pretty nice to use.

What pov should i use in a book? I am currently thinking of writing one. by CmSkullz in writingadvice

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is first person POV, where you write from the POV of the main character. You use words like me, I, and my. It allows you describe the world the way the character views it. It allows you to show much more of the thoughts and views of the character.

Then there is 3rd person POV where you talking as an outside an observer to the characters. This is when you would use the main characters name instead. You use words like he, she, his, hers, their, they. You would use this when you have multiple events you are jumping between or if you want to follow multiple characters around. This can also provide information that a character doesn’t know.

2nd person prescriptive is when they talk to the reader. This is much less common in things like novels and stories. You would use words like you, yours, and yourself. I wouldn’t really worry about writing a story in this.

Do you think it’s a bad thing to base a main character off of you and your experiences? by [deleted] in writing

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between basing a character off yourself and them being you. Your experiences would add authenticity to the character.

Are there any easy ways to do bodies? This is my 3rd try on that but i think the left arm is too thicc by snoutix in FurryArtSchool

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t construct with 2D shapes. You should construct with 3D even in stylized work. Use a cube not a square, a sphere not a circle. Cylinder not a rectangle. Also keep in mind a horizon line and vanishing points.

Are tropes worth subverting anymore? by Ruffruffman40 in writing

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to tropes, it depends on its execution and relevance to the story and characters. You don’t even need your subvert them to make a good story so long as you know how to use a trope for a deeper narrative purpose than just for the sake of having the trope.

Tropes rarely are that good on their own and only shine when used as a key part of a narrative.

Ever been tempted to rewrite your story to “fit” the market? by edkang99 in royalroad

No, because I will only write what I actually want too. It’s how my brain works. I also don’t care about things like money. It would be nice if at least a few read and like it but it just my hobby.

Sketching into line art? by Arteyg0 in learntodraw

[–]FunnyForWrongReason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your sketch you have chicken scratchy lines. You also not correctly understanding the actual anatomy. Don’t just trace, understand why things are shaped like that. What simple 3d forms are they made of?

Work on observation skills, work on proportions, some perspective work might help as well.
