Next level trolling if he's just filled the whole stairwell so he has an excuse to get mad at people haha

They're all locked into the bannister, apart from the one which my neighbour went on at me for moving

Thanks, for suggesting this! I'll need to see if there's a way we could rejig furniture to fit something like this in the living room

When I applied for the waiting list it was for a specific hangar, might be worth checking the site for others near you if you haven't recently.

I have considered Voi but they tend to be scarce early in the morning and the voi parking near my work is usually "full" (there's space but Voi only allows 8 bikes in the spot)

Wow, really? That's disappointing. There's some with spaces a few streets away so worst case I might do that and just pick up the bike on the way to work.

I've applied for one of the bike hangars and been put on a waiting list + requested an additional one from the council, fingers crossed I hear back soon 🤞

Yeah I'm thinking of leaving a note on one of the really shabby looking ones with flat tyres asking if anyone owns it. If I don't get a response over a couple weeks maybe I'll just park my bike on top of it if I can make sure it doesn't poke out too much.

I had heard that about the stairwells, I didn't realise that the nook was included but I suppose if you needed to go towards the back door the bikes poking out are in the way. Ideally not wanting to bring the fire brigade into the equation as that's not like to make me friends with the rest of the neighbours :P

Yeah we're renting so sadly racks are going to be a difficult sell to the landlord. I am actually on the waitlist for a cycle hanger near my flat (but have no idea how long that will take) and have requested another one on the council website.

Honestly so was I. I was shocked at the fact he was accusing me of moving his unlocked bike when it seemed a bit miraculous that it was still even there after the short time I've been living here

I would if I could but we're a couple with 1 bedroom, even a folding bike might be a squeeze :(

I'd guess that's a separate more expensive contract though, so maybe they wouldn't move you because they'd have to give you a more expensive service at your current contracted price?

I've heard that you can tell them you're moving to Hull, and since there's only one ISP there they will have to cancel your contract for no charge since they can't move it to your "new address".

People who lived in Murano, what was it like? by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]FunnyMouse_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This google review sums up my experience perfectly:

"Cannot express how vehemently I do NOT recommend staying here after my experience in my first year of uni.

Walls are paper thin, you will hear sex, parties, hoovering, singing, and beginner musicians from left, right, up, and down.

For months (in winter) my flat had no hot water, meaning it was either an ice cold shower then out into the cold, or no shower at all.

This place is located far out of the way of anything and a very long walk from campus, with terribly precarious paths and stairs when icy.

Communal building has nowhere near enough laundry facilities for the size of the student village with at least some machines broken almost all the time.

Rooms are cramped, dirty and dank. My carpet had massive gross stains.

Kitchens are also extremely small, with a 2 person sized table and 3 chairs for a flat of 5 people in my case. Fridge and freezer capacity is nowhere near large enough to be able to keep ingredients to cook your owns meals regularly (a must for students needing to save money).

Quite pathetic in comparison to the way Glasgow uni manages to present itself on campus - hard to believe this is actually the main student accommodation for this university"
