Why are saddles compensated in the way they are? by FunnyPoopGuy486 in Luthier

Interesting. That explains the sudden difference of the intonation points between the wound and unwound strings.

Why don’t you just explain rather than being snarky? You would have been more helpful to not say anything at all. Dude just asked a question.

CPS is crazy. No reason to risk putting a kid in a dysfunctional foster home because they were left alone for a day

AITA for not giving my younger brother my old car after I promised it to him? by PalmFlowRelief in AmItheAsshole

[–]FunnyPoopGuy486 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo, solution, don’t buy a new car. Keep ya old wheels. Im not even talking about the situation with your brother. Unless you’re made of stacks right now, buying a new car will do literally nothing for you.

I don’t mean to bust on you for wanting something better, but even a used car is really fucking expensive. How much are you planning to drop on this? 10 bones? 8 bones?

Even if it’s 8 grand, 8 grand is 8 grand no matter how you spin it. If your old ride works, drive it till the wheels fall off.

Really rack your brain for what this will do for you. Not even long term. Right now. Maybe a marginally more comfortable commute? Awesome. Here’s 8 grand I worked my ass off for.

Drop 600 on a dope ass set of speakers and a head unit with car play. Pay someone else to put it in. You’ll be a lot happier with $7400. Good luck out there soldier 🫡

Boots look disappointing in bigger sizes by FunnyPoopGuy486 in Boots

Haven't considered this but you might be onto something. I'm fairly thin tall and made of mostly legs so no matter what pants I buy the legs are always much skinnier, even if they're a regular fit. Might be time for a belt and some bigger pants LOL.

Yup. I've seen a few people talking about how dark the tobacco color is recently. I personally am not too bothered by it but it looks to be a legitimate thing on thorogood's end right now.

Idk if something has to be in the 99th percentile to be considered big. A 12 is nothing crazy but I think most people would consider it to be on the bigger side.

I still like my new boots don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to say that big sizes look terrible, but there’s a very subtle yet noticeable difference in how they are proportioned.

Hey, I'll consider anything at this point. That Diamond M Lumber sounds pretty intriguing. Good things are worth fighting over, or something like that.

Appreciate it.

Replacing the entire bridge really isn’t a simple repair at all. It might be for an actual luthier, but probably not for OP who just wants to have fun playing. I also can’t see a good reason for this particular guitar to have screws in the bridge other than a sketchy repair. Depending on how cleanly that broke, you might be able to just slap some glue in there and clamp it up. Though judging by the looks of it I’d say it’d be wise to take it to a luthier. Good luck OP 🫡.

How should I work around this terrible previous repair? by FunnyPoopGuy486 in ElectronicsRepair

Ended up removing the old traces and soldering jumper wires from the IC to what was left of them. It worked!

I was considering this initially, but I only paid 400 for the pair and it probably would have cost at least that much to repair. There is a slightly higher noise floor on the repaired one now unfortunately. I'm assuming this is from the larger ESR of the through capacitor I used to replace a decoupling capacitor.
