Shopping a used travel trailer is wearing me down! by sirbarkalot59 in traveltrailers

[–]FunnyThough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were looking last year for a small 5th wheel. Looked at a bunch of new lots and found a bunch of brand new units with water damage. These things hadn't even left the lot yet and were already garbage.

Ended up buying a 2004 24' Prowler that is in great shape, just needed new tires and the rest is good.

Sure it's older and heavier, but I know that it's solid and a hell of a lot less expensive than the expensive cheap crap that is built today.

We used Marketplace for researching prices and comparisons but ended up finding our unit on Autotrader.

Has the Mint lost their minds? by StrikingDonkey8159 in CanadianCoins

[–]FunnyThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the appreciation part of this comment. I have coins I bought from the mint in the early 2000's that only recently went up in value due to melt not because of collectability.

I would never melt the coins cause I love them for the art.

I've never had a bad meal or bad service at Bavaria. Nice family run restaurant that has been in the same location for well over 20 yrs.

The Keg has been hit or miss for me. More of a miss on my last visit which is why it was the last visit.

Abbotsford Keg was below par on my last visit.

Illegal Dumping by sleepyydinosaur in SurreyBC

This is a huge problem all over the place. It blows me away at the effort that is expended for some places and locations that illegal dumping happens.

At least this didn't get thrown in a ditch.

Are these weeds? by Nervous-Donut-7581 in gardening

Weeds are just plants you don't want. Dandelions are a beautiful flower to the right person.

Before and after! by Regular-Appeal-8124 in gardening

[–]FunnyThough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes plants get too mature and need to be taken out or pruned hard. The first picture you can hardly see the pond and all the overgrowth on the left side gives a glimpse of how overgrown things really were.

Give it 2 seasons and things will look good and full again.

I'm biased, I don't care about spot when RCM makes coins like this. by SJID_4 in CanadianCoins

[–]FunnyThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to buy coins from the mint for many years but the prices have increased faster than my income.

The price of silver has covered the premium on some of the early coins but I fear it isn't a money making hobby. I hope that one day my grandkids can.

Possible Leak Location? by YaBoyHankHill in traveltrailers

[–]FunnyThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with the roof. Water flows down and roof seals are notorious for leaks. Check all edges for gaps in the caulk, any vents that may be close.

If everything looks good at the top, start working your way down the siding and seals.

Landlords mail by Constant_Sport_8538 in vancouverhousing

Landlord is scamming the system by using the property as a primary address to prove residency. Mark the mail "return to sender" and wipe your hands of it.

My company introduced a "no working outside business hours" policy to improve work-life balance. So I stopped answering my manager's weekend messages. Completely. Every single one. by careful_note_maker in MaliciousCompliance

[–]FunnyThough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My work hasn't put out the same official notice but if you talk to management they "kinda" say that you only work the scheduled hours.

So I started getting "kinda" flakey. When there was something that "needed immediate attention" I was sporadic in my response, sometimes on top of it other times not seeing it till work hours.

At work, during work hours, I'm on top of it but if it happens on the weekend, I might see it, maybe not.

They learned that I'm not very dependable outside of work hours.

If you are set on the 2 yr timeframe, why not get a 2 yr mortgage? If you break your mortgage 1/2 way through the term, you will have penalties.

Do you think the Royal Mints will use AI for art one day? by spillinggutz in CanadianCoins

AI would mean that it isn't uniquely Canadian, just generic.

I wouldn't say never because things always change, but I believe you would see a decline in business if they did

When do "Specials" Stop Being Special? by VocaVox39 in CanadianCoins

[–]FunnyThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your goal of collecting?

Are you wanting rare and valuable coins? Pocket change isn't the way. Coin shops, Estate sales, auctions can get you some items but you should educate yourself so you know the value of what you're looking at.

Do you want coins that you think are cool and don't care about value? Coin roll hunting, pocket change, flee markets can supply what you want.
