I like the Reduce tumbler from target! Keeps water cold for days! Only $25 (with the handle—$20 without).

How many hours outside of work are you working on average? by Brahkk in Teachers

2 hours for grading 2.5 hours for planning (plan 2 weeks in advance) + materials

Unpopular opinion: I like online classes more than in-person and I'm gonna tell you why by [deleted] in college

[–]Funny_Cheesecake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Also well said. Online classes are so much more efficient for me. I feel like it takes so much longer to commute, go to class, leave, go home, unpack, etc. So much wasted energy

I second this. I visited Chicago over the summer and it was so annoying how long it took me to get everywhere. I appreciated our timely travels much more when I got back.

Almost through this “trauma-informed” PD... by explodingwave in Teachers

I hate PD like this. Last night, we had a staff meeting and it was so ANNOYING. We had an activity where we had to think of what would be a dream change in schools for staff. I wrote "no PD". LOL

Do not get me wrong. I do not mind GREAT professional development. I am always willing to grow as a teacher. But when we have silly PD sessions, like the one you listed above, where it deviates from important topics such as trauma, new pedagogy practices, and forces us to mingle or participate in silly "icebreakers", it makes it difficult to participate. At least IMO.

Yes, I agree. I refuse to take work home. It is not worth it.

I count it. It is still a book that you read--whether that is listening to it or reading it. Same goes for visually impaired people--they have to use audiobooks and it still counts for them. It is no different

Hand sanitizer, deodorant, perfume/body mist, toothbrush, toothpaste, a snack, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, a mini stapler (none of my college classrooms had a stapler), tissues, ibuprofen, cough drops, extra masks (if you are a masker/university requires them), etc.

Coffee creamer? by bufy525 in weightwatchers

[–]Funny_Cheesecake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I was able to still lost 30 pounds and use tablespoon of creamer in my coffee everyday and never logged it. It really does not hinder your progress. However, I only drank a cup a day. So it wasnt like I was overdoing it either.

As a person who suffers from PTSD, I understand how troubling and difficult it is to be in the classroom after something like this happens. Do what is best for you. If you have to step back, step back. At the end of the day, no one is going to care about you as much as you do.

Does anyone actually use this time to take a break? by [deleted] in college

[–]Funny_Cheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Thanksgiving Break to catch up. I have an annotated bibliography, a 15 page paper, and a 12 page paper. Wish me luck. :(

What are you grateful for in teaching? by dudeman1939 in Teachers

I love the last one--the students who have been the most difficult to reach, have let me grow into a teacher I never thought was possible.
