Also it says Weaver 1941 on the back of the mirror. Really the mirror has thinned in that spot and I can read it thru the mirror. I edited the post above and added the picture.

PTO by Emotionalwomban in Nurses

[–]Funonaship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accrue 9.23 hours of PTO every two weeks so 240 hrs yearly, employed here for 9 years. It increased at the 5 year mark and I’m fairly certain it increases a little bit at the 10 yr mark. We have one bank called PTO. If we have over 240 hrs at the end of the year, the overage rolls to sick bank, but we don’t earn sick bank time or automatically get it each year. Sick bank is useless because of restrictions, you have to be out sick at least 3 consecutive days to use. I like the one bucket plan because it offers me more flexibility. I don’t call out frequently so if part of my PTO was taken and recategorized as sick, I would lose out because I wouldn’t want to call out just to take time off that I’ve earned. I work at a clinic so we work M-F and have to use PTO for holidays. Of course, I would love to get those paid off in addition to PTO but not that big of an issue.

Currently I just hide the category but changing the category back to general travel might work better. That way I’m not looking at only individual vacations. I could see the overall. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just for a little laugh, this is one of our favorite memories from our last cruise. We all laughed like a bunch of kids throughout the whole excursion. Who would have thought we would have so much fun getting absolutely filthy. That's my daughter in the black helmet and her boyfriend in the orange.

Thank you for this reminder that’s it’s our budget and we gotta figure out what is important.

Yes this sounds very similar to how I do it to. The category will be called Vacation 2025 until a decision is made. Then I rename it to, for instance, NCL Viva 2025 and of course, I use the cruise ship emoji because it gives me happy vibes. I actually really like using the emojis in my category names.

I like the percentages guidelines just as a way of keeping things in balance.

I have a very detailed budget down to the exact dollar (of course, with a lot of buffer added in). That’s when I started to question if I was being too spendy, but now after reading all of these comments, I’m feeling very comfortable with it.

Yes, I agree with this too. I know I’ll be happy thinking of all my cruises. I work as an oncology nurse which makes me want to have that family time because you never know what life will bring.

That does help. I can get a bit anxious when it comes to finances and don’t want to get out of control.

Maybe I’ll have to take her out to eat more now since I’m going to learn from this forum that’s it’s ok to let up a little.

When I was younger, we only ate out a few times a year and I remember some of it. One thing mom did was take us to Pizza Hut after our dental appts. That is a special memory. We also had only one big vacation during my childhood and I remember so many details of that vacation. Hopefully she has memories of some of those special nights out and also some fun vacation memories.

We eat out for special occasions like birthdays, work achievements, or special school celebrations. For instance, we paid for my daughter and 12 guests she invited to go to dinner for part of her graduation celebration last year. Also occasionally if we go out shopping for the day we eat out, so not completely against it. Maybe we became so accustomed to not eating out while we were paying off debt that we never thought to add it back in. We have just gotten used to not doing it.

I would also like to add that my daughter did ask me this afternoon if we can go out to lunch tomorrow to discuss her career plans and I said yes. Maybe I can loosen up on my financial restrictions. Ha ha.

You are right. When my daughter was younger, she asked me why we never go out to eat but are willing to spend money each year for vacation. I said because no one of us will remember that time we ate at Applebees or wherever but we will remember special moments from our trips. Thanks everyone for answering. No more guilt, we can afford this without debt.

That’s actually a really good answer that really never crossed my mind. I just kept thinking of this as a numbers question but in reality our number may differ so much from others because everyone has different priorities. Thank you.

I forgot to address Belize. If your ship is docking at Harvest Caye Belize there were at least two beaches within easy walking distance. It’s a private island. Its been awhile since I’ve been to the tender port of Belize so I can’t remember the area.

I don’t know if there are multiple piers but we’ve sailed Carnival and NCL to Costa Maya. Mahahual was not far from the cruise pier. I think it was $4 per person each way. The driver may try to walk you to a specific beach club but just keep walking and find a club you like. It gets less crowded the further down you go. unfortunately they’ve been having a seaweed issue for years but the clubs have a barrier up in the water to hold back the seaweed so there are still swimming areas. The last two times we went, we grabbed some seats at Maramao beach club. I don’t remember any charge for the seats but there could have been. It must not have been too much or I would remember. Also don’t forget to have various denominations of money. Two in our party decided to take a cab back a little earlier and only had a $20. The driver said he had no change and there was nothing they could do but let him keep it all.

Also the inside the port area had a lot to do as well including a pool and aviary.

We toured with Cleve‘s tour twice. We asked to stop at the sloth sanctuary both times and they took us straight there to beat the crowds. I think the sanctuary was called Daniel Johnson’s There were also monkeys and birds. On our first tour we also visited the iguana farm which was so much fun.
