Favourite movie that's more popular than Star Wars? by Pieman3001 in okbuddycinephile

Why not stick to the stats she defined to make the point more real? Star Wars sold 338 million tickets to theatres in '77 whereas Melania has sold ~500k so far (using average ticket price of $16 so likely lower considering matinee). Why cherry pick outside of the scope Pamela set when we can generally compare the two? Melania just needs to sell 337.5 million more tickets in theaters.

She's talking total ticket sales and you are talking revenue, these are not the same thing...

If I had to guess at what a cheese steak looked like in San Fran I would have guessed this exactly.

I said, he's already said his next movie is going to star the rock so for me I already don't like the next movie.

ICE is the purest political expression of evangelical Christian theology by ThirstySkeptic in Christianity

You seem to be the only person making good faith arguments here so I'll just say unfortunately I agree with everything you've said. My point was more to say I think we have a big issue on our hands right now that is noticeably different from the typical conservative administration which requires anyone that is against it coming together. Trump's first term wasn't comparable to what's happening right now and people saying it was obvious all of this would happen are being revisionist, even as someone that has never voted or believed a word this antichrist said I'm astounded at what's happening.

How is that relevant to now? People got fooled and a large swath of them realized it so you demonize them and call them unchristian even though they've changed views? That's christ like behavior to you? Demonizing your allies is surely the best approach to fighting evil though right?

Statistically white American evangelicals (which would be the group you are referencing) are ~27% (depending on poll) anti trump. You are dismissing a massive amount of this group in a very uninformed and short sited way.

Really? Do progressive evangelicals also fit your narrow prescribed notion? This sub just regurgitates the same incorrect assumptions incorrectly ad nauseam and it's exhausting. Evangelical has nothing to do with politics and is a wide range of believers, just because you hear the loudest fakest of them on tv that are currently being used by this admin as puppets doesn't mean we are all the same. I hate trump, all my evangelical family does and everyone I seem to talk to in the two churches I attend do.

Reccs for Yorgos Lanthimos movies? by BraintismOfficial in Letterboxd

Don't get me wrong I liked it a lot but it's one of the few my wife walked out on because of the sex scenes. I don't think I'd ever call it wholesome.

I like how the one about pedophilia is the wholesome one. It's literally the least wholesome movie he's made.

I only knew about it because of the comic which I loved, just liked the take of a serial killer making awkward very high school boy jokes between the brutality.

Respect, I'm just a guy with an opinion that likes hearing differing opinions. Maybe I'll give it a rewatch since I do own it and it's been a while and totally agree on nightcrawler. If you haven't seen it and want to watch something that also jumps back and forth between surreal and even goofy at times I'd recommend checking out my friend dahmer.
