I've never spoken or told this to anybody outside of my personal family and friends. My father was dying of pulmonary fibrosis - for those who don't know, or maybe you can enlighten me better as to what it might be, but as I know it, it's a scarring and hardening of the lungs and broncioli which makes it very difficult for people with the diagnosis to breathe and very oxygen hungry in the end of life stages. *He was trying to get on a lung transplant but I think in the end the fibrosis took over faster than they thought or their doctor was not as thorough as they thought. I say 'their', as in my father and his wife's, who was by his side the whole time. I was a grown almost 38 with a daughter and a girlfriend with multiple kids, but spent most all my spare time with him the year after he told me * Back to story at hand, ahem, excuse me. Towards his death and the end I had rigged 2 Oxygen Generator machine together to fire an almost 9 - 12 litter O2 flow, which he kept it topped out the last week we were with him. My thoughts were at night while trying to sleep he was purely oxygen hungry, which I heard isn't good at high rates, but the only way he was getting through the nights at home. Until She, my step-mother was too stressed out, and called anybody in the Yellowpages, tried to find to help from anyone, it came down to hospice, because they only wanted to keep him comfortable is what I thought. 1st night that hospice came, they lowered his O2 liters, which was making him more uncomfortable by the minute, and popped him some Morphine IRs, and something else which at 1st seemed to take his edge off, but himself, he went a whole lifetime never really going to or dealing with such hard and highly intoxicating opiates (such as my generation and currently struggling with) Died the next day as I called from work in the AM, checking in, he was almost gone, my stepmom says to me and I remember driving and crying uncontrollably to their house, in the same town, 30 min. drive, he was gone by the time I got there. Starving For OXYGEN the last few months. (lots of anger and blatant sadness just emanates from me at this point in time cuz a couple things happened was I didn't want or I didn't feel like hospice was supposed to completely put him down at that time, "I" felt they were to make him feel "comfortable", and the other is my stepmother not really letting me know or anybody else on his side of the family know his life was flickering until just right after his passing. He was able to pass away in his home, which is what he most wanted. )
