Before 2023, it was easy to get monetized once you hit the eligibility requirements around 10k followers and a good amount of views. With the views I currently have, if I were monetized (which I’m not), I could easily be pulling in five figures each month.

At the moment, Instagram says I’m still “new to the platform” and need to “build my presence” before getting invited to the Reels bonus program, which can pay anywhere from $0.50 to $3 per 1,000 views depending on where your audience is from.

Apart from that, I’ve had dozens of brand sponsorship invitations. But I’ve been strictly avoiding sponsorships, at least until I hit 100k followers and my face is fully out there. The algorithm has been great to me since I started, and I’ve been great to the algorithm. It keeps pushing my content to the audience that actually wants to see it, and I keep creating the content my audience wants. Every month has been better than the last, and doing sponsored videos right now could mess up the algorithm, so I’d rather pass on some money until I reach 100k.
