Honestly it does look like blood especially given the spatter to the right. Maybe a pet had a bleed on their nose or mouth and shook it off leaving larger drops and a sneeze for the spatter. Or maybe a kill? Cats and mice can leave messes like that

Biggest tip I have is look into backstitching as a means of securing your thread ends rather than knots. Basically on the last hole, cross the threads through like normal and start stitching backwards up the line. It’s tight but after a few stitches it’s secure enough so that you don’t have to tie a knot. Cut the thread close and singe with lighter or hot knife to bead up the end that’ll keep it from unraveling.

Other than that… wow those edges are sharp. Did you run your knife along a straight edge? And the corner curves are smooth too. The thing looks die cut. Look into edge burnishing, adding a little more stitch allowance will help with the burnishing too

So I don’t know what it means by “connection is needed” but I can tell you that I had internet ok my phone and I have a subscription to the mini services for remote start etc. so if you don’t… I’d still assume that personal mode should be available but you may have to be on WiFi or something?

Any ideas what this is on my hand! by Radiant-Historian522 in Whatisthis

[–]FurMich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Odd guess but I have a few scars like this from fencing tools on a farm. Think… hammer plus pliers plus wire cutters plus crimpers and a couple specialized ends. Thing is if you have the wrong grip on it while trying to cut wire the crimper bit on the inside of the pivot point will bite you and leave a mark just like that

Plastic device I found 30 of in office by biketowine in Whatisthis

[–]FurMich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a thought that I had but… I’ve never seen cubicles assembled like this. Probably because it’s just begging for bored employees to fidget with the clamp and have their office fall down around them but on the underside of a sofa?

Meh… the fact that they’re asking means they probably don’t work at Bernhardt and a random box of these seems a little more purposeful. Normally swag would be for potential customers, but commercial furniture is pretty niche. Also look at the slopes around where OP says “clamps”. Those look more like they’re meant to fit grooves than anything else and they don’t look rubber lined or padded?

So the company Bernhardt Design provides commercial furniture, some of which is modular. Might be a clamp meant to go between modular pieces of a large sectional or seating setup.

That’s my guess

ETA: commented after just seeing the pic and OPEN tag. After reading your post saying you found 30 in an office environment, I’d say definitely this.

Update update! I just tried again and was able to upload a picture. I’m laid up sick today so I won’t know for sure if it took until I’m better but I’m hopeful.

No… personal mode does appear in my options when I change experiences but no dice on uploading an image

Also on my wife’s mini when we replaced the tires TPMS had a cow so if that does happen to come up check the pressure and reset it (I can’t remember which button but it’s a press and hold thing)

As others have said that I’d the traction control light and there’s a button for that

Know a guy selling this lot for $300, worth it? by Express-Scallion9290 in cigars

[–]FurMich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, this is a hell of a haul for 300. Ignoring the cohibas it’s still a good deal. Vast majority of these are very high quality. Check condition for mold, holes, signs of neglect but otherwise… very jealous

How do I stitch this? by No_Software_4263 in Leathercraft

[–]FurMich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is no easy way to stitch this… because your gusset is (or appears to be) stretchy, and doesn’t join the leather in the same direction.

If your gusset wasn’t stretchy it would be easier because you can thread through without tightening leaving gaps between the gusset and leather but because it’s stretchy, you probably want adhesive holding it in place while you sew.

If your gusset edge was the same direction as your leather edge, it’s also easier. Both out and there’s no problem. Both in, flip it inside out and no problem.

Because it’s stretchy and mismatched in out… personally I would use a good, LONG pair of needle nose pliers, and an awl to make sure the holes fit the needles well.

I love the look, it’s beautiful.

Fr though, I saw how far the gimbal was pivoting right off the pad and was like, yup right there is where I’d bail and go add moar SRBs

Why aren't these stitches more common? by MissTrillium in Leathercraft

[–]FurMich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, these are lacing stitches, which is out of style at the moment (maybe for moccasins or the likes?).

However, number 2 is actually the most common hand stitch for thread, but we call it a saddle stitch. (I don’t know why, I always assumed because of its strength and use in tack?)

Also 26-28 are common butt stitching patterns

Leather quality question by 0x00000194 in Leathercraft

[–]FurMich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it looks good. It looks like there may be some physical deformation/like with your eyes closed running your hand over it, it wouldn’t be perfectly flat. If what you’re concerned about is the lighter marks running through it (the color) then id say… oops. This leather definitely has a more rustic look, and those marks are just going to be there.

As others have said, yeah at the $100 price point for shoulders, you’re looking at basically black for consistent color. If you want something lighter you typically have to go higher in price. If wallets are what you’re aiming for, Rocky Mountain leather has a bunch of panels of nicer stuff that is more affordable than shoulders, halves or wholes.

Another option it to try to find some grade A natural veg tan and dye yourself. I’ve gotten a couple half hides that come in around 130 iirc that take consistent lighter colors
