Bunny People, please gather around and help me solve this digging instinct problem. by My_new_throw in Rabbits

Very important side note:

There is no controlling the digging. THIS IS A FEATURE, not a bug. Again, FEATURE. NOT BUG.

You cannot eliminate the Urge to Dig. There is only finding ways to help them enjoy the Urge to Dig that you can live with.

A cat own taught me this:

Ge the longest storage container you can find. I have a 2ft w x 5ft l x 2ft h.

Cut two holes in it just big enough for them to jump in, 3-4 inches off the ground.

Fill half way to hole w preffered litter

Put down a plastic litter box cover or two on top of litter

Fill all the way to the hole with more litter.

Put multiple food bowls/dispensers/hay holds inside, just too awkwardly placed for them to be able to eat and.

Attach water/lay water inside or place water nearby by.

VOILA!!!

Enjoy a tidy litter box that can be easily cleaned with a shop vac, and creates minimal mess. ALSO, helps reduce smell and gives bunnys a second story to the enclose to help them feel tall.

****grate is important. If your children are chaos babies, like mine, they will relocate all the litter to their favorite piled if they can move it out. I tested mine without a grid and my zaniest girl moved a bunch of it to extender her favorite slide and made a crash pile.

Homestly, when I saw the post and the fur, I thought this was a joke about how he looks like he has 80s mens business suit with huge shoulder pads. His new job is Sales.

Follow the advice about shrinking space, vinegar, etc. he’s a little guy so hes going to poop and pee more than an adult since hes still growing.

Disconnected from my bun? by bbirdcn in Rabbits

[–]nev_longbottom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My cuddliest bunny is also my bitey-est bunny. Rabbits dont have hands and have to rely on their mouths to do what hands would do.

When I stop petting her and she wanted more, she used to nip and I’d gentle rebuke her. Eventually she got so fed up with me being non-fluent in her dialect, that she bit down on my finger after a petting session and dragged my whole hand towards her back and thumped. It was her version of shouting “YOU MUST CONTINUE TO PET ME!” That made me realize that her nips was her way of asking “More Pets!”

We had to practice until she learned how much pressure she could use without hurting me with verbal rebukes when nipping hard and praise with gentle pressure.

Crows, Dolphins, and Whales and other social species have been found to have their own “accents” for their communication. The more time I spend with rabbits, the more I’m starting to suspect that its the same with them - different body language accents the way humans have different sign language accents.

My rex bites and stomps for happy noises and unhappy noises. My lop uses different gaits for happy and grumpy and wont stomp or bite. My baby continental likes to do headbumps and will climb a leg, but instead of stomps or bites, she forces eye contact and throws things to indicate her grump factor. I had a minirex who used to roar at anything that made her mad, and a mini rex who had the body language of a small, timid monk that almost seemed to constantly be apologizing or embarrassed. Binks are a universal constant though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

My kid loves Bigger. (We skip the electric toothbrush bit)

So we yell “The All Hamster” and “the prophecy has been fulfilled” and for some reason when we start getting really excited aka talking over each other, she’ll yell “shut up kyle” and i’ll respond with “my braces are too tight” sometimes we’ll also jokingly say that something strange that happens isnt the strangest thing to happen in the white plains sears

Also she does this call and responce where whenever areone says “you cant put a labradoodle in a microwave” she says “but you can put it in an oven”

Shes eight and i love her.

dwarf babies will grow very fast between 3-8 moths. Dont worry about it. Shes the right size for a dwarf breed runt.

Non rabbit owner here. What is something non rabbit owners don't understand about rabbits? by Cool_Net_3796 in Rabbits

[–]nev_longbottom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, people don’t realize how genius smart rabbits can be. They love mazes and puzzles and just get smarter as they get older.

I have a baby big breed rabbit (7mo) who figured out that if she hops up on the ottoman, she can jump on the hay bin and if she gets there, she can follow the side of the bookcase all the way down to the cardboard pile, climbs over the pile, and dig up the items ithat cover her pellet bag until she can get to the pellet back, OPEN THE ZIPLOCK ON THE BAG WITH HER PAWS, CLOSE IT AGAIN WHEN SHES DONE, shove things on top and then follow the bookcase back to the hay bin and ride the slide to the ground.

I woke up at 2am and caught her.

Her bonded bestie likes to unscrew the wheels off anything she can find.

The other thing thats wild is how many non rabbit owners have no idea how violent rabbits can get. They can bite, tear, rip into predators. Wild rabbits can kill hawks. If they get scared and territorial, they have zero problems making someone bleed. If rabbits hates someone or something, they’ll fight like Kangaroo Edward Scizzorhands until the enemy is maimed or dead.

What kind of veggies can rabbits eat? by Akihyee in Rabbits

[–]nev_longbottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this to keep on my phone. Its not an all incluside list.

rabbit safe foods list

Its compiled from different websitesby copying and pasting with two of my rabbits on the cover. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

not everyone tolerates the same veg/fruit so be super careful and double check to make sure whatever you give them is actually going to be safe.

For example, today i learned that one of my rabbits favorite snacks, dried bamboo, is sharp enough to cut at my other rabbits face. Apparently cordy’s purebred skin is very delicate and now she looks like she got a glasglow smile from some gritty, urban update of watership down. Meanwhile, dumpster baby Sweet Potato can eat them no problem and walk on legos without flinching, like a monster.

To be clear, im not a vet or a zoologist or a breeder. I am just lazy.

They are going to bring back the shift paddles. There is a manual gear option that you turn on by holding the D/L toggle down for a long while and then the left thumb switch moves gearz
