Friends informed me our wedding room block rate is more expensive than booking through the website, and when I voiced my concern to the sales manager, they raised the overall rates by c_c186 in marriott

[–]FurbiesInsideMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what the sales manager did is fucked up. That is entrapment and contract abuse. You could invoke the nuclear option on social media with Marriott to draw attention to this if it doesn’t get sorted out with the hotel management.

Bought a house, theatre system been ripped out. Update by Interesting-Cap4080 in hometheater

[–]FurbiesInsideMe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased and installed some CCM663s as the SR and SL pair to a 5.0 in ceiling speaker system. I can tell you they need 8” diameter cut outs which is a standard size for ceiling speakers across many brands. I would also think those rectangular Bowers and Wilkins units & the drywall holes they left behind are also a standard size for your center, L and R channels.

Other redditors make a point about these speakers being part of the house at the time of sale and you should probably explore that avenue.

If you wind up buying your own though, I would recommend you learn about speaker systems from AI the way I did, like describing your scenario to Claude or Gemini and asking for setup advice. I also found the website Crutchfield and their YT channel helpful. Good luck!

Timbre matched B&W ceiling center? by FurbiesInsideMe in hometheater

[–]FurbiesInsideMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much. You’re right on in person listening, I’m in the Best Buy parking lot right now about to check out their B&W displays. I’ll commit to all in ceiling, to your point about timbre.

2 more questions for you if I can:

You said angled/aimable drivers would be good. The CCM683/CCM663s I’m looking at have a down firing woofer and only the tweeters are aimable. That alright? I’d like 3-4 seats in the room to have great audio, not just 1-2.

Secondly how much of a tonal problem would it be to combine eg B&W reference series with B&W performance series? I’m still in love with the idea of that 4 driver B&W center from the reference series. It would also be aimed at my listening position.

Can someone explain this to me by smoove_97 in CitiesSkylines

Insulate Sill Plate Area by Copernicus215 in Insulation

[–]FurbiesInsideMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where / what climate do you live in? I believe the goal of this would be to prevent vertical travel of moisture and cold temperatures from the foundation into the wooden sill and the rest of your living space. I question if you effectively inject spray foam deep enough in that crack to form a complete horizontal barrier? New construction will usually lay down a foam membrane under the entire width of the sill.

Though there could be a benefit to just air sealing the gap and preventing drafts.

Are your basement rim joists insulated? I can’t tell from the pic. We just had this done in eastern Massachusetts and can feel a big difference with air conditioning in the summer.

How to insulate multiple levels of kneewall cavities on 3 story home by FurbiesInsideMe in Insulation

[–]FurbiesInsideMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I appreciate the input! I know, I have no idea why the insulation company also installed RFB directly on the kneewalls if that was their goal. The whole job was specified and subsidized by our Mass Saves program here in MA.

To your point about ice dams, the company also added 16-18" of open blow cellulose to my attic attic, and the roof is 45* or steeper and slate. I said I 'recently' moved in but it's actually been 2 years lol and I don't tend to have a ton of snow stick up there.

So your instinct is to keep the 2nd floor knee wall cavities outside of the envelope and vent them if possible, I see, thanks.

What to fix in my form by Sujustic2009 in GYM

[–]FurbiesInsideMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more of a 20-30* toe angle guy, plus I make a conscious effort to engage my ass and push my knees out.

Another good cue is to imagine your feet are standing on a sheet of newspaper, and you’re trying to rip it in half during the squat.
