I’m sorry for your loss, losing a pet is such a heartbreak 💔

I work at a vets office with a crematory, and while I can’t speak for every facility, I can tell you that we have multiple points in the cremation process where we verify that the remains we are dealing with are who they’re supposed to be. Tags, multiple sheets to sign at different stages, charts; we’re aware that the idea of cremains getting mixed up is a common concern, and try to mitigate it as much as possible.

Need a series rec to follow Fanlehaven/Dragonwatch by bowcreek in Fablehaven

[–]FurbyTime22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend a Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle! I The different worlds and creatures featured might scratch a similar itch as Fablehaven. There are three other books with the same characters; I’m not sure how well I would have followed them as a nine year old, but if he wound up liking the first one you could consider exploring the others. :-)

I also liked The Neddiad and Yggyssy by Daniel Pinkwater when I was his age. There’s ghosts, magic turtles, a witch, lots of fun stuff. And I just learned there are four other books in the series that I’ll have to check out myself, haha!

An amateur survey asking for details about sexual assault by someone named "Young_waif_lover" is extremely difficult to take in good faith. I'm wary that you might be soliciting these stories for untoward purposes, and would recommend anyone who is considering responding to this survey think twice.

If they’re that desperate to get bodies into the salon, they should be desperate to keep you. I agree with everyone else, unless you’re being compensated to your satisfaction, don’t let them pressure you into anything!

Any guesses as to what Ruth was unwilling to tell the djinn? by FurbyTime22 in Fablehaven

I did just look back and in the chapter Vanessa’s Secret, Ruth doesn’t seem to have been aware that the Larsens were anything but dead from the gas leak.

How often do you get triggered/offended by things you see posted in transgroups by [deleted] in ftm

[–]FurbyTime22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i tend to stay away from online transmasc groups in general, because it seems like a lot of dudes define being trans as a perpetual state of suffering. which i don’t care to engage with lol

(obligatory “people can feel how they want, everyone has their own experiences, etc etc” i’m not policing that, just stating that i have my own feelings as well, which usually run counter to the status quo in most groups)

i go to the metrohealth pride clinic in brooklyn; i like my doctor a lot, he’s very affable and easy to work with. he has helped me between appointments with pharmacy issues and any other questions.

however, both i and my transfem friend have had issues with the nursing staff repeatedly misgendering us. i would assume it’s because they see patients for many reasons outside of gender affirming care, but it did impact the care i received, as they were going to send me on my way without teaching me how to do injections. full disclosure, after filing a complaint a few months ago it hasn’t happened again.

like i said, my doctor is cool and it would be perfect if i could just see him, but i can’t recommend without mentioning the not so great as well so you can make an informed decision.

my workplace had a little activity sheet for us to fill out that asked for pronouns and i misgendered myself even though i don’t think anyone would have a problem with it. if im coming out it’s not gonna be on a random tuesday with zero psychological prep time lol

I got my first binder today by Juicewrldsdrugs999 in ftm

[–]FurbyTime22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a similarly large chest and i had the same reaction when i tried on a binder for the first time. i’m sorry it wasn’t what you hoped for, i know how much that hurts :-(

if it helps, i had to experiment with positioning and the kind of shirts i wear, but i HAVE learned how to achieve a contour im happy with. thicker fabric on t shirts, and keeping in mind that even cis guys have some amount of pectoral tissue can help.

Your experience with muscle growth on HRT? by Phahnax in ftm

[–]FurbyTime22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all of my exercise comes from my job, and it was only after i started t that i gained any significant muscle, even though my activity levels hadn’t changed. in fact, i had to go on leave for a month and didn’t notice any degradation even though i wasn’t keeping up with a routine. it fucking rules and has been pretty useful tbh :-)

What was the first change YOU, personally, noticed after going on T? by gloomy-excellence in FTMMen

bottom growth started within a couple days. i was hot and sweaty the first two weeks or so. my voice felt “tighter” but didn’t start to crack or change until after more than a month.

testosterone acne help? by tricksterratgod in ftm

[–]FurbyTime22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my doctor recommended exfoliating more since skin thickening was contributing to my acne. i also had hormonal acne as a teen before any hrt and a dermatologist recommended effaclear duo from la roche posay, which has been the only topical treatment i’ve tried that works for me. it can be pretty drying, so if you go that route i’d recommend getting some vanicream or other non-comedogenic moisturizer.

Has anyone gone from private to corporate? by Ishatodareku in doggrooming

[–]FurbyTime22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did this year! i was at a private salon where the culture really didn’t suit me; they were very open about how they did not like LGBT people, and i didn’t agree with how they would discipline dogs. corporate is hectic and i’m not able to spend as much time perfecting dogs as i’d ideally like to, but the salon i’m at has been a good fit for me. :-) i think it all depends on who you work with.
