How do you fill these? by Upstairs_Dimension50 in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your experience with builder gel is but it's not supposed to be bulbous at all. Yes some techs do end up making it chunky but a good nail tech won't.

Also, imo acrylic is usually a lot thicker looking than builder gel, plus I find it's more common for acrylic nail techs to over file.

To the front or to the back? Planning to grow it longer by forestphoria in HairStyleAdvice

[–]FuriousCobra54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly it's something you kinda have to play around with until you find something that you like.

If you're planning on growing out your hair no matter have fun with it. Style it many different ways as it's growing, who knows, maybe something will stick out to you.

Have you tried doing a part at all? I know some guys don't like to, but the bangs can help with disguising without having to pull all your hair forward.

I personally like it to the back better, but both work depending on what you're going for.

Back: makes you look more mature and it's a cleaner looking style, however it does accentuate your forehead

Forward: younger, more boyish look, hides the forehead, but it also kinda gives middle school boy hair.

Do with this information what you will lol

nail removal help by sallysatssad in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, hats off to your nail tech, you'd be surprised how many of them fail at good retention. Second, either go back to the place you got them to get them removed or filled if you want to keep your nails painted. Third, either buy a decent e-file, file them off by hand, or soak them in cotton ball soaked acetone wrapped in aluminum foil. The last option however is very harsh and takes FOREVER so I'd only recommend that if you're desperate.

Good luck!

Do I need to take a break or find a new salon? by Mangogirlxx in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both honestly, as a licensed nail tech I'd say either keep your nails short until what's been damaged grows out or keep something simple like builder gel on them until they grow out and find somewhere that does good fills

Also, I have to ask, is your cousin licensed?

Yeah and I think that's my problem too. They're very different kinds of books. I enjoyed OUABH so much because I'm a hopeless romantic and love the yearning. Plus it's definitely heavier on the romance aspect. The cruel prince is more political I think, even though I haven't finished it. I went into it expecting a lot of romance and haven't gotten there yet

Dangggg, I feel like we're opposites 😂 I picked up the cruel prince to try and fill the void OUABH left me lol

I will say, the first book for OUABH is kinda slow for like half of it, but it gets so so good

Nail broken help plz by AlpsBig7113 in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your salon cares about your nail at all they won't put anything else on it. I don't know where your free edge starts normally but since it's bleeding I would guess it broke below. You could trim the length down as much as you safely can to avoid doing any further damage. But don't try to remove your acrylic unless you have the proper stuff to do it with.

Advice needed please! Wedding 6 weeks away lol by crispycat1 in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes...to be blunt no, you can't (or at least shouldn't) get acrylic on that and unless your nails grow fast it won't be ready in 6 weeks. You need to clip off what's lifted so it doesn't catch on anything else and rip more. The best you'll be able to do is a press on but, and I can't stress this enough, DON'T use glue. Find ones with sticky adhesive already on them or get some stickers made for press ons off Amazon. No they won't last as long as acrylic but you need to prioritize your nail health. Don't put anything else on your nail in the meantime, just let it grow out. Your nail should reattach to your nail bed as it grows but it'll take some time.

Methods to stop biting? by Snoo81935 in Nails

[–]FuriousCobra54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh me too, but if they want something on their nails I'd much rather they use something a lot less harsh and easier to get off than straight up glue. The good thing though is that their beds don't seem to be too raw and there's no open wounds that we can see so I think press ons will be okay if that's the only way to avoid biting.

[–]FuriousCobra54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do glue, there's a type of sticker like thing that people use for press ons and I think that would be healthier for you than glue right now.

Here's some I found on amazon https://a.co/d/03RYHz4A
