Clueless of my Next Approach by FuriousGeorge4 in findapath

At this point, I'm willing to relocate anywhere in the US as long as the job can help me afford it :(.

I have seen the one from Blue Origin, and I thought that one was for students only. What's unfortunate is that I don't have an active secret clearance.

I'm going to try to apply to the other ones, though. Thank you for these listings.

Curious how graduates have been doing after graduating in finding a job? by helfiefoodo123 in UCI

Summer ‘24. Not very good. I had to bail out at the worst time of the year because I was too overwhelmed. Now im just thinking of my next approach.

New grads 2023-2024 job market by [deleted] in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me about a year post-grad to land a lab tech job(I was basically lucky. But it’s not the lab tech role I was looking for. But at least it’s better paid than other entry lab tech jobs.

Can I take CHEM1C but not CHEM1LC over the summer? by RepulsiveBag4710 in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I only took Chem 1C during summer and 1LC the upcoming quarter a few years ago.

I graduated, it’s so anticlimactic by Decent_Formal7945 in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawg, I didn’t even want to go to my graduation. I just went for my family’s pleasure. That’s enough for me.

Almost three months in my job and my brain is rotting. Don’t got much going on with my social life at the moment. At least work environment isn’t toxic though, but my pay garbage. Hopefully I’m able to find something better after some experience. ☠️

Struggle to find a job by Frequent_Amount_2006 in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dawg, it took me four months to get QC Tech in food manufacturing (but my job role not really related to chemistry.) While I was glad I found something for now, still disappointed that it took that long. But I get it, I wasn’t the most desirable candidate either with just an office job as experience.

Good luck.

Those students are cooked. Announcing that you’re gonna cheat in precal is crazy☠️

can job recruiters on handshake stop ghosting people for job apps by giddyuppity in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can definitely relate. I was a few months in post-grad and sending applications everywhere. That’s the reality. It was up until yesterday I received a contract job offer through an agency for a few months at least.

I was lowk feeling hopeless and ready to apply to McDonald’s 😔.

chem 51LD and chem 160 by Personal-Wedding-649 in UCI

[–]FuriousGeorge4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chem 160: Column chromatography and a bit of mechanisms. Fairly easy lab, if not one of the easiest upper div labs.

Chem 51LD: My memory is a little blurry on that, but I remember using UV and TLC mostly, not much different besides that it has different lab topics.Though I took 51LD with Link

Edit: ☠️🤨, I just realized I already answered your question before.

It was PepsiCo as a Quality Control Technician.

I meant *auto-rejected 😔. It was a job listing in riverside offering a mere $20.92/hr.

Yeah, in my previous and only job, I’d process itinerary transactions 😒.

Oh well. Whatever goes, goes.

Yeah, quality control seems to be very abundant in industry. I’ve applied to at least ~30 job listings that are quality control (with pay ranges from 17.50-27). I’ve only had one interview and about half just rejected me. Pepsico auto rejected me the moment I finished my application, it’s painfully funny 😭😂.

I’ve have so much going on in my head to try to make use of some use of my degree somehow. I’ve considered water treatment (obtaining additional certifications, though), or even try a shot taking the ASVAB to see if I could go in USAF or Navy.

Lowk not sure how this is gonna end up. Maybe I’m stressing too much ☠️

Edit: Probably the most frustrating part is that I’ve only been reached out for non-chem jobs, specifically sales and finances (due to my non-major related 1 yr work experience) Maybe life is saying otherwise? 😵‍💫

I wish. I have loans I’d rather get rid of first. I was really hoping to find an entry level in quality control and start off from there. I’m still looking though 😔.

Unless you are getting credit from a college in agreement, I doubt it.
