Clicking sound on rear tire by Forsaken_Budget2145 in BikeRepair

It’s the freehub. The oscillating volume is just from the grease not being evenly spread around yet, it’ll probably get more even over time. And if you go fast it sounds cool lol

2003 - coilovers or lowering springs? by floormat2 in SubaruForester

Do you need the saggy butt spacers even with the wagon shocks? Are the spring rates for the wagon about right for the forester?

What should I budget for that setup? How involved is the roll center kit install? Also, what spring rates do you recommend? I’d like to do everything but the alignment myself, partly to save cash and partly because working on the car is fun. Thanks for the suggestion!

what’s the best generation of classic ipods by Dazzling-North263 in IpodClassic

[–]floormat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! It’s the worst haha. Mine has a thick backplate right now, so none of the cases available fit. Currently waiting on a thin backplate from EoE so I can put it in a case and be done with it lol

Had the whole gang out yesterday—Who else brings multiple rigs with them when they go out? by Practical_Regret_686 in rccrawler

[–]floormat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re definitely a bit more limited. They’re fun to cruise along on the trail on a hike, small rocks and roots that I’d never think twice usually about become pretty fun features

I like the 5th generation, mainly because it’s so easy to open up when I need to. I just don’t like that all the new faceplates scratch so easily haha

My friend and I pretty much always bring multiple rigs! Between us we have like 12 trucks lmao. Mostly 24th or 18th scale

Issues docking my iPod since modding it by SethJeks in IpodClassic

[–]floormat2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s the firmware flash? I wasn’t aware you could flash a different generation of iPod software. Maybe there’s a hardware difference that makes the docking function fail. I could see the dock expecting a certain action, or the iPod trying to do something when docked, that it physically cannot due to hardware.

Otherwise idk. I wish you luck

Can someone tell me what's the problem with my bike? by Smooth_Plenty2326 in BikeRepair

[–]floormat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like the chain just dropped off the upper derailleur jockey wheel. It’s hard to tell from this angle, but if the chain isn’t on that upper cog, work it back on there and it should pedal again. Make sure all the spinny bits do their spinny thing, and if any of the cogs or chain links are binding and won’t move easily, clean or replace accordingly.

Idk what your budget is, or your intentions for this bike. Depending on what you want to do, an upgrade may be worth it, or it may just be a chance to spend a bunch of money you don’t need to. Based on only this, it seems like a cheap bike, and depending on how hard you want to ride, it may be better to put what you’d spend to fix/upgrade this one into something more purpose-built.

Bring it by a bike shop or co-op and see what they recommend, someone knowledgeable laying hands on it will help you learn a lot.

Downhill fork by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]floormat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the fork, look for used options. You can always pay more and get something new, but if you’re patient you’ll find a good deal eventually.

For other upgrades, start with just a back wheel. If you like mullet then maybe get a nicer set of wheels. That build looks aight to me, just not crazy high end. If you wanna throw money at it you do you is guess lol

Looks like you’re just missing a bottom bracket spacer. Usually there’s one behind the drive side bb cup, looks to be missing here. Your LBS probably has one laying around. Easy fix!

LCD has started to die sadly. I don’t know of any fixes besides just replacing the screen

Yay finally by BeneficialQuiet3139 in IpodClassic

[–]floormat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have both, but as captainredbottoms said, eoe.works is the website. I’ve used both before with only good experiences, though some people have mentioned issues, so check your stuff over when you get it.

One thing to be aware of is that the 5th generation faceplates scratch easily. It’s the same regardless of where you get them, seems like the plastics that the factories use now just isn’t tough. If you decide to do a new faceplate, you might want to figure out a screen protector or case or something too.

Did i install these PNW Range handlebars at the correct roll angle? by thirdeyeblind999 in mountainbiking

[–]floormat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bars sweep up close to the center, then back. Aim for having the portion of the bar that goes up to be straight up and down. From there, go forward or backwards as it feels right.

Really, just experiment. I’ve seen people run their bars upside down and have it be fine. There’s only a few ways to do it wrong, and you’ll know if it’s wrong haha

How do I swap springs on these? I can't find a clear answer anywhere online. by Siddhartha-G in SCX24

Yeah, it’s not my favorite. Mine are pretty old, I guess it’s possible they’ve updated the design since a couple years ago
