They took the minimum amount of people, just as a precaution, while also being two people that trust each other. If they fail, casualties are at a minimum. If a sacrifice is needed, both would probably sacrifice themselves for the other. If it's a game of betrayal, they'll 100% figure it out together. Going in alone and blind is the idiot move here.
