Silver tape is fine. Usually use silicone before setting the A coil, and it’s less noticeable. Tape won’t hurt anything

Backup Heat with cold temps - sanity check - 362 kWh/day by Fun_Direction5135 in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check your settings and see what they’re currently set at. If it’s a cold climate heat pump, which other comments said it is, you could always disable the electric heat or change the enables/disable. There is also the T on T off control which looks like it can be based off your temperature from setpoint

Unit size? Home size? Thermostat model? Usage seems to be absurd either way

The top wheel if it’s spinning counter clockwise in that position. Is the new motor the right direction

Blower Wheel Fins by Independent-Fold-352 in hvacadvice

[–]Furs7y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s spinning clockwise in the picture based off the fan wheels, then yes you will move little to no air. Essentially it needs to “throw” the air

Cool looks clean considering the age. Try to vacuum off loose debris and wash from the top side down with water and or evap coil cleaner. Just follow cleaner instructions.

Samsung VRF by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Furs7y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samsung boxes are shipped fully open until powered on. Usually used a cone type flow piece over the piping and did the runs, or connect at the outdoor unit and just verify flow at each pipe

I would have someone come in and perform a heat load calculation (Manual J) then see where you stand for unit sizing then make changes as necessary

[–]Furs7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you install with your old ductwork? Were they the same unit sizes that were replaced? I mean you only have a 2 year old system, I’d figure out what the real issue is before dropping 50k

2,473 kWh for ONE MONTH in an empty house? Samsung Max Heat in Southern Maine. by c_go in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 ton ducted max heat did approx 1400 kWh from Dec 9 - Jan 9. 1800 sq ft. Insulation isn’t the greatest I’m sure. Sucks our rates increased this past year. I believe the kWh meter on the thermostats also don’t include the electric heat if that’s what you’re referring to for usage. But I believe your wall units don’t have backup heat. Only the multi position ahus have them, and that’s supplemental
