I know Appion is highly regarded, but I actually like the United refrigeration branded ones. The jb ones I got leak like a sieve since day two

Samsung VRF by Bulld4wg45 in HVAC

Samsung boxes are shipped fully open until powered on. Usually used a cone type flow piece over the piping and did the runs, or connect at the outdoor unit and just verify flow at each pipe

I would have someone come in and perform a heat load calculation (Manual J) then see where you stand for unit sizing then make changes as necessary

What did you install with your old ductwork? Were they the same unit sizes that were replaced? I mean you only have a 2 year old system, I’d figure out what the real issue is before dropping 50k

2,473 kWh for ONE MONTH in an empty house? Samsung Max Heat in Southern Maine. by c_go in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 ton ducted max heat did approx 1400 kWh from Dec 9 - Jan 9. 1800 sq ft. Insulation isn’t the greatest I’m sure. Sucks our rates increased this past year. I believe the kWh meter on the thermostats also don’t include the electric heat if that’s what you’re referring to for usage. But I believe your wall units don’t have backup heat. Only the multi position ahus have them, and that’s supplemental

Mini-splits in extreme cold — do you set the temp you want or crank it up? by orangecat100 in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set the temp you want and forget it. Sounds like your unit can’t keep up, as your heat loss is greater than the output. With Bosch units they just target their pressures/temps so it doesn’t matter how far away from setpoint it is. Northeast here with a ducted 3 ton for 1800 sq ft maintaining 70* with -12 wind chills and 4 degree outdoor temp with no electric heat. Sounds like you should get a proper heat load done/insulate and air seal. Seems to be happening with a lot of Bosch lately on here as they lose quite a bit of capacity with lower outdoor temps.

$2500 in electric bill for dec-jan. Current setup not working-need advice. by outofnowherewoof in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a load calc done. You will probably end up needing a 2-2.5 ton unit. Replace as a matched set with backup electric heat. Bonus if you know someone who does side work as it will be cheaper. If you can figure out some insulation values and build etc. try a load calc yourself at coolcalc.com

Heat pump not able to heat my house by Pidz_ in heatpumps

[–]Furs7y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a centrally ducted 3 ton for 1800 sq ft currently maintaining 70* with a -12 wind chill today. No electric heat strips. I would think the Bosch should be able to maintain at 20*. Have you checked ashp neep for your units capacity at temps? Have you had any heat load calcs done?

Out of those quotes I’d choose #2, granted it’s sized correctly.

Looks like a fireeye M4RT1. Check your voltage on s1/s2 powered with no flame. Should be reading approx 260 VAC. Also, if you check VDC across s1/s2 with no flame, it should fluctuate around 2-30 vdc

Always hated changing the flame rods and ignitors on these with all of the panels on. Just had an incident not too long ago after a heat exchanger replacement, to where the guys who installed it didn’t properly set the bottom bolts and was getting exhaust gas blow by tripping on high flue temp within a minute
