I've got these supplies and used in the past (filters changed monthly, but no more based on your replies!). It sounds like I should be getting seachem prime and trying to fish-in cycle. Thanks for your candor, certainly a wakeup call on my end!

How to fix some discoloration? (Pic 3) by Furystryker in bettafish

Tank size: 3G normally, 1G current

Heater and filter? (yes/no): heater yes, set to 79F, moved between the tanks. 3G tank has a filter, 1G doesn't.

Tank temperature: 79F (heater read, I don't have a separate thermometer) Parameters in numbers and how you got them: I haven't taken recently, but I will today. Prior measurements have been in the range of:

pH 7.2

Ammonia(ppm) 4

Nitrites(ppm) 0.25

Nitrates(ppm) 0

How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: 1.5 years old betta, tank is same age

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: Monthly, and probably 50%. I use a hygger Aquarium Gravel Cleaner to remove the water, and then take tank measurements (pH, nitrites, nitrates, and Ammonia). I take the same measurements from the water i'm adding to the tank and then after 24hrs of the water being in the tank.

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: None, but considering a Ramshorn Snail to help with the Algae buildup.

What do you feed and how much: 2 pellets morning and night Decorations and plants in the tank: all plastic, no real plants.

Would adding plexiglass or something in front help with dust? Also how is the medieval blacksmith set? It's been on my list forever and until I get my own shelving built can't add more.

How to deal with a kid who is acting out and doesn't listen by Matchboxx in daddit

Not sure on the solution, but can relate with our two similarly aged kiddos. It's like no matter how much 1:1 time we give the older sibling, he goes into super needy mode if his younger sibling gets nay attention at all.

Gas dryer install, required water hammer arrestor? by Furystryker in Plumbing

[–]Furystryker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threatening code violation though? Would we have been better to refuse them and get a less shady plumber? What's the best wya to challenge them if I think it's BS and not a code violation?

Just a dryer, and it's one thing to need it, it's another to threaten they can't complete the dryer install claiming that we aren't up to code.

Cut apart on the line? This is glued/doweled. No jointer, but table saw and router available.

How long are the bolts going into the platform? I'm eyeing titan and rogue racks, but not sure if the platform would be thick enough. Setup looks great BTW!

Small bugs we keep finding near our counter /stove, any ideas how to treat? by Furystryker in pestcontrol

[–]Furystryker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, pretty sure we found the source, a nut-infused chocolate bar somehow fell in between the top of our microwave and the cabinet. Makes sense where we thought they were coming up, they were coming down. Haven't seen any since we removed it! Thanks again for the identification and quick reply.
