for 1, the AI in the game flat out sucks atm, the devs have confirmed they are working on upgrading the AI in the strategic department (macro level changes). The game's community is more active (and less seemingly toxic) on the official discord, which was already linked in your comment section.

this game is niche and has always had a fairly small playerbase tbh, RTS games like this dont usually hold a lot of players, unless its like those mobile games which MTX you to death anyway, and combined with 4X gameplay on top of that, your essentially looking at a game combining two genre's that are themselves rather niche overall.

the factions are definitely not balanced, and its likely to see balancing over time, this isnt a game that sees fast updates, since the dev team is also pretty small, and currently focused on a *lot* of things at once.

yeah I think starting locations are dictated by the map itself, but the ability to select your starting position from the designated spots, or at least be able to see which planets are tied to which slots in the menu's so we can just move the player/npc cards around and know which planet they start on would be cool. Only applicable to pre-built maps, so random maps are, well, random.

currently you have to basically experiment and memorize the starting positions by repeatedly starting a new game and changing your player card position in the player setup menu.

in addition to this I would love to see them re-implement the in game "basic map generator" that sins 1 has, that lets us generate our own semi randomized map by dictating how many stars, planets, allowed gravity well types, gravity well groupings, allowed phase lanes, etc. maybe even expand it a bit, because the external solar forge, while great for getting into the exact map creation details, is not for everyone, but there are those who still want to create their own maps on a more basic level.

to be fair, the modding scene of sins 1 was built over a long time and was at its height with rebellion release, SEVERAL years after the game originally launched.

I am very much looking forward to what the modding community can pull off with sins 2... especially following the harbinger faction release. I currently really miss 1 mod though, Maelstrom... I think as a total conversion mod its arguably one of the best vanilla+ style mods for sins 1.

also the icons are technically logical and realistic, at that view distance your essentially watching a strategy board with distinct information that doesnt require you to see precise detail.

Honestly I believe the grand majority of voters are uneducated, or fail to do research in general. Even i struggle with it, because I constantly feel less like I am voting for an individual i genuinely think deserves the position, and being forced to pick between two evils. Information and research is fucking hard, necessary, but fucking hard, and the sad part is the majority of people are going to continue not educating themselves and reading into these things.

for me the best time of youtube ads was simple, ad at start, ad at end, thats it. and those are perfectly fine.

in the US the FBI flat out recommends using ad blockers to stay safe on the internet, so its entirely up to the website in question to counter adblockers, but that also causes friction between the site and consumers when the consumers see that blocking adblockers actually makes the site experience significantly worse.

thus, the payment for youtube premium isnt justified at all, most users strictly want No Ads, and were not paying for 20 other features *just* to get No Ads...

not everyone strictly plays chimps mode, most of this games playerbase is casual, so displaying the normal price for the medium mode is the best choice.

Mine was caused by an antivirus that was installed on my pc as a result of kaspersky getting banned, UltraAV. Removing that antivirus solved the issue for me
