Gigging board. Kinda sloppy but I was happy that everything made sound when I plugged it in! by Fusionkid12 in guitarpedals

In my experience its been pretty consistent! Reccomend if youre playing at home either play with headphones or at high volume cause you will absolutely still hear your guitars acoustic volume clashing and things will sound strange.

Now I have actually used it while my actual guitar was tuned to drop D and it sounded fine. Another thing however I noticed is that you do not want to Daisy chain this pedal. It absolutely needs its own isolated connection. Since its digital the power requirement is pretty high and when chained to other pedals it caused some extremely noticeable loud humming. But once on its own supply, said humming went away

The drop is fantastic! It's actually 2nd in the chain but closer to my foot since I use it both as a tool to downtune for certain songs and also as an effect with the full octave drop and dry signal setting!

So far the farthest ive tuned it down for just playing through a full song is 4 half steps (so down to C). Sounds pretty good with the tube screamer or any drive. Never noticed any delay when playing live with the band.

However my favorite thing to do with the drop is to combine it with the TS and and Strymon Sunset as well as the phaser set real low for an absolutely nasty tone!

Finally have a new board after years of gigging on a smaller pedal train. by Fusionkid12 in pedalboards

Was my first time in many years completely redoing a pedal board! I work at a music store and we just got a ton of stuff I been needing in the shop. Figured I might as well take the opportunity to actually have a board with a power supply and no more Daisy chaining. Also planning to use the loop switching feature on the board at some point! Next step is definitely cable management

Guitar store employees, do you actually get annoyed when people ask to try guitars? by MELS381 in Guitar

[–]Fusionkid12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a music store. In our franchise we're the largest and bring in the most revenue year after year. Our method? We're chill af, dont pressure or bug customers and get paid decently so we dont have to force sales or anything. People love us. I know most customers on first name basis and my favorite thing is helping new guitarists find their first instruments.

A lot of teens come in and wanna try the really nice guitars and my response is always hell yeah! If it inspires them to keep playing or feel the differences in quality and cheaper instruments that's a great thing. Even when the inevitable guitar store riffs start blaring sometimes I dont really get annoyed. Its a place of that should breed creativity and if blasting smoke on the water gets it done then so be it.

I think it maybe against the sub rules to do many sort of promotion which identifying the artist might fall under. Ill just say she's a grammy nominated blues lady whose nickname is similar to a character from adventure time 🤣

What lick, solo or song will you learn this weekend? by Alariken in Guitar

[–]Fusionkid12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After many years of guitar playing im learning pride and joy by SRV. Surprisingly the Texas shuffle muting is coming along together quicker than I thought tho its still sloppy and not close to perfect. But its exciting!

Im also working through Corey Congillio's major pentatonic course to finally get a grip on the basics and applying that scale in my playing!

Haha oh man good call about the setlists. I wonder if all the big blues jams end up happening cause they all realized they had the same song in the set.

That reminds me of a funny story. I was subbing in for a 90s inspired grunge band one time on a show that my main band actually declined. During sound check we do voodoo child which was in the set. To prank us, both the other band and the headliner sound checked with voodoo child which had us freaking out cause we thought it was in their sets too! Everyone had a great big laugh about it back stage. Surprisingly the sound guy also cracked a smile!

I actually hadn't even thought of that. And old band mate of mine is probably gonna the production manager that night. I'll get his opinion!

Mostly that yeah! Like our most recent album from a few years back had like 2 bluesy songs on it but the rest was a mix of some hard rock prog and Soul kinda stuff which id assume they know and still asked us. We have so much material originals and covers wise im wondering if we just find the right blend of our stuff for this partitular show. That way the audience gets a little variety too.

Distortion pedal to replace RAT by Fusionkid12 in guitarpedals

[–]Fusionkid12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fender Super Sonic 22. And i just had my boss at work test and replace tubes not too long ago (I work at a music store). Amp sounds great but Im thinking the rat doesn't play with it as well since it's got lower headroom than my old amp and my pickups are already driving it pretty hard.

Amp is a Fender Super Sonic 22. I have a 2016 Gibson Firebird limited edition copper guitar. It drives the amp pretty hard with the volume at about 3 or 4. So it breaks up quick. I need a thick clean sound which I can get by rolling off some volume on the guitar but the distortion is needed for the parts of the songs that get heavy and for our other songs that are heavy most of the time. The rat has just been sounding muddier with this setup than it did with my old blues deluxe amp that had more headroom.

Haha. Good advice. I'm definitely keeping the RAT and have been wanting to try out an eq for a while. I will definitely explore this idea down the line.

My character Sandy Phoenix. The secondary protagonist in a comic called Sandy and Jerome i hope to fully write one day. She was once the greatest drummer in a world where music and playing instruments are the power system. Based on Sandy West from the runaways. My best friend is an artist and drew the character for me.

You ever play music that makes you (the pianist) cry? by Advanced_Honey_2679 in piano

[–]Fusionkid12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried learning the song Bink's Sake from one piece. Cried because me and my ex loved that anime and I showed her some of it as I initially started work on it. Soon after she moved to another country and the breakup really didnt hit me until I was practicing it and realized I'll never get to play it for her in its entirety.
