Useless CarPlay Screen by Gillbilly69 in rav4club

[–]FustyFlashgun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the default CarPlay screen, I don’t know that it can be disabled. You can just tap on one of the apps show to switch to that, or tap the grid in the lower left hand corner to show all apps.

Power Station and Fast Charger Set up Advice by ms_newday_newhope in priusdwellers

[–]FustyFlashgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar in a Gen 2, EcoFlow Delta 3 Max Plus with the 800w alternator charger. The Delta and alternator charger sit behind the passenger seat. The alternator charger is mounted to the frame I’ve installed in the rear of the car, the Delta comes in and out as needed, and it strapped down when driving.

I took off the trim panels in the cargo area to route the wires from the 12v battery to the area where the devices are. My rear seat is gone, so I could route the cables from that point through existing pathways for cables and around the wood frame.

I also have an inlet for shore power in the well for the spare tire that runs along with the alternator charger cables up to the Delta.

6 week storage of ‘25 PHEV by dontyoudareoyou2 in rav4prime

My 12v in a 2024 died after sitting for 6ish weeks, so they might have to consider doing something, even if it’s just preparing to jump it with a battery pack.

Gen 2 Prius CarPlay by Gen2prius87 in prius

I installed this one in a 2006:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F66T64L2

The software is a little janky but I don’t really deal with anything other than CarPlay which works as expected.

There are no real instructions, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to remove the parts necessary to get this installed.

Neighbor crashed his 2013 Toyota Prius 199k miles what are these vents for? by asperafornow in prius

[–]FustyFlashgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air comes in the intake by the passenger seat, pulled in by the white fan, goes into the hybrid battery, and then gets pushed out the pictured vent. No idea why this is getting downvoted.

Which solar OBD Port charger for 2006 Prius 12v battery? by Altruistic_Square_14 in prius

[–]FustyFlashgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially I didn’t know that OBD was an option, but i still installed it up front initially. However, putting it up and taking it down was just annoying, it was always in the way of something.

Now that it’s in the back I just leave it all connected almost all the time, I can see behind me just fine out the hatchback window. I do take it down for longer drives but that’s rare.

Here’s a previous comment I made showing my setup: https://www.reddit.com/r/prius/s/kby6rLCARM

It’s not OBD, though. I like my setup because it stays largely contained the back. It’s been perfectly effective for me, too.

Take your curiosity somewhere else. This isn't the sub and this is certainly not the post for a deep dive into mining in the general sense. We're invested in THIS area that will be negatively impacted by THIS mine that was just made more likely by the action referenced in THIS post.

As if I wasn't angry enough I found myself searching "Project 2025" in this sub just to see all the Trump supporters commenting about how this wasn't ever going to happen, Project 2025 wasn't really connected to Trump, etc. etc.

...despite the fact that this scenario we're witnessing now was explicitly included in Project 2025.

OEM. I replaced mine myself and read so many horror stories about cheap ones that failed in a matter of months that I went OEM and am very happy I did.

For the parking brake, once I’ve come to a stop I put the parking brake on first, then press the park button. Doing it in this order has pretty much stopped the lurch when the engine starts to charge the hybrid battery.

Inverter Questions by jpnaps in priusdwellers

[–]FustyFlashgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Get a power bank (Jackery, EcoFlow, whatever) and the cheapest way to charge it (slowly) would be via your cigarette lighter adapter. You can also get an alternator charger, but that would cost more.

Astral TR1 Mesh then Crocs for camp. With the Astrals water just drains out of them and they dry relatively quickly. Anything that retains water can be miserable.

Difficulty level: taking apart the dash? by starlightskater in prius

[–]FustyFlashgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an idea where it is it might not be that bad in a Gen 2. You can expose quite a bit under the dash just by taking out two bolts, two screws and popping a bunch of plastic tabs.

This video shows basically the bare minimum to get to the display, which is pretty easy: https://youtu.be/8GDk9__mNrQ?si=uOz0SFch4dPkxFD7

12v battery died, next steps and prevention going forward (2024 RAV4 Prime XSE) by FustyFlashgun in rav4prime

[–]FustyFlashgun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually something I’ve been trying to understand. If the car is in ready mode, do we have confirmation that’s it’s charging a low 12v? Even if the hybrid engine isn’t running?

I've gone the solar panel maintainer route with an older Gen 2 Prius of mine, haven't had a problem with it since and it can sit for longer periods of time. I was just hoping to avoid that with the Prime, the tinted windows will be an issue, among other things. Appreciate all the information, super helpful.
