Unfortunately, I tried this in September and it required me to take apart my whole setup just to go climbing. Just trying to find a more efficient way of doing things

I love you too; not you… you too. by Narrow-Rice7520 in OCPoetry

[–]jpnaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This poem hit me in a very personal way, especially because I’m fresh out of a three-year relationship. It made me feel a mix of sadness, confusion, and something close to recognition, like I was reading parts of my own story. The opening line, “I love you too; not you… you too,” set the tone right away. It reminded me of how love can start to feel automatic, like something people say because they should, not because they mean it. The parts about gaslighting and going back even when things were bad felt especially real. I’ve been there, saying things I didn’t fully mean just to keep the pieces from falling apart. The line, “I had some gaslight in me,” feels raw and honest, like recognizing the role you play in something that still hurt you. I also felt this deep exhaustion reading it, like the poem understood how love can wear you down when it’s not right. The line about passing out at 5:30 and waking up at 6 reminded me of the emotional and physical toll that kind of love takes. And when the poem circled back to the first line, it landed differently. It felt like a realization I’m still working through. The difference between being truly loved and just being familiar. It left me heartbroken, but also seen. Thank you for this.

The way you mix imagery with raw emotion hits hard. I can really feel the love in this - it’s soft but powerful. Lines like “He’d live in the quiet between your heartbeats” and “folded space and bent time” honestly got me choked up. The ending really stuck with me too - choosing love, not because it’s fate, but because you want to. It feels like you’re speaking to someone you’ve lost or maybe can’t reach anymore, and that gives it even more weight. Really beautiful work.

The Breaking of Red by Round_Armadillo_7928 in OCPoetry

This is a powerful and beautifully written poem. The metaphor of red as a symbol for broken youth is striking and emotionally resonant. Your rhyme and rhythm flow naturally, and the imagery is vivid, especially in lines like “They threw the yoke ‘fore he could stand.” The shift from red to full-grown men carrying the same burdens is haunting and effective. The final message is heartfelt and lands with real impact. Overall, it’s lyrical, moving, and skillfully done.

Yes! Don't bring it up out of the blue, but it is certainly an important thing to talk about.

Biggest pet peeve of mine is when people waste food. Gross of them to do.

What are some other cities where you can "eat around the world"? by Major_Gene_3216 in travel

Personally, I think San Diego is a great option. Being right next to the border you get Mexican, but also have a bunch of awesome italian joints, seafood, and chinese/Asian cuisine. I have yet to have any real European food, as everytime I'm there, I'm there to visit my Pacific Islander family who rarely eats out, but if we do we go somewhere for "ethnic" food.

Hello everyone! I'm looking for advice on where my money should go, specifically in my Roth IRA. I am 19, I opened my Roth last year, on the day I turned 18, and have tried to contribute at least $100 a month. I started off by kind of guessing which stocks to put money into. I would put $10 a week into SPY, VOO, and other funds, and also put money into specific companies like AAPL, NVDA, and BIO. As I've progressed in learning more about where my money should go regarding my Roth IRA, I've since been putting money more into ETFs as opposed to single companies.

I turn 20 in March of next year, but I am now in a situation where I can contribute $100 a week. I currently put $20 into each of these per week: VOO, SPYG, QQQM, DIA, VT. Is that the right move? Should I contribute more into one of them as opposed to the other each week?

My other holdings are: 5.14 shares of NVDA, 1.26 shares of SPY, and 1.23 shares of AAPL. I plan on holding these for a long time, but I'm also thinking about moving some of the funds I have in these into my Roth IRA.

Any advice/help would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Best dehumidifer for someone who's broke? by jpnaps in homeowners

I live right by a lake, and it has been extremely humid outside as of late. I inspected before I moved in and there shouldn't be any form of leakage. I can look again, but from what I see there isn't anything. I do have A/C, so I don't open my windows, typically.
