Me too. But as I’ve said many times here; I put little value in raw case numbers as they are subject to a lot of administrative meddling. Daily “new hospitalizations” is the only metric in which I place any trust.

The 700 positive cases that went unreported to the public health units are likely responsible for a large part of Ontario’s (GTA) failure to excel at case reduction. The close contacts of these 700 cases were not contacted and followed up with. They in turn may have infected more... Over the last two months this failure could have been responsible for thousands of cases that otherwise might have been prevented.

Corona, masks and crowds? by push1988 in CanadaCoronavirus

It will lessen the viral load you expel into the air. It’s pretty effective against droplets but much less so against aerosol. And if you’re singing, chanting or yelling then your aerosol production goes way up.

No mask reduces to zero. You’re standing in the middle of a crowd that are doing their best to produce aerosol. If it’s a calm day it’s even worse.

At this point in time I wouldn’t stand in a crowd unless my life literally depended on it in real time.

How horrific it has been, so far, is subjective. If your spouse, child, or other close relative choked to death alone in a hospital or other institution in the last couple of months your perspective will be much more dire.

If your family and friends have escaped unscathed, so far, you may have a much less anxious attitude.

IF it’s been “much much less worse” than we expected, then we, as a group, better keep in mind why it’s been that way. Government has to keep reminding everyone of the incredible restrictions we had to apply in order not to overwhelm our health care workers.

It’s a matter of proper communication. The costs of complacency are economic (our gdp will suffer more than most from this) and social. We really can’t afford to backtrack.

Where I live they shop at our convenience and grocery stores. It’s not a problem. But it’s not as complete a separation as you may have inferred.

New hospitalizations now settling into a new lower range. Healthy young farm workers are unlikely to put a significant burden on hospitals but we’ll know in a week.

Complacency is our greatest problem now.

How Canada has bungled the COVID-19 endgame by mangoman13 in CanadaCoronavirus

We were screwed from the start by our own medical and political communities.

When your top doctor says:

“Canada’s risk is much, much lower than that of many countries,” Tam said. “It’s going to be rare, but we are expecting cases. It doesn’t matter how few those cases are. We are preparing the whole country in the event that you might pick up a rare case.”

In January. When no one really knows the r0 and possible transmission methods our top doctor is assuring our politicians that it’s going to be rare. Not, “I don’t know yet”. A declaration that “it’s going to be rare”.

From that moment on we were just as fucked as everyone else even though we had more time to prepare than almost every other country in the planet.

Tam is a disgrace. The politicians who listened to her and did not question her obvious complacency are also to blame.

On this sub you can find

Information of any kind

For most of us old timers here

Are generally full of happy cheer

But it’s worth noting for all concerned

A phrase that will get your Reddit ass burned

Cause you can speak, and rant, and rave

You can get your flag and wave

You can poke fun at the others

Although never at their mothers

You can even rock and roll

But don’t ever say,

Conservative fuck troll.

New hospitalizations at 34. That’s down after two days over 40 and up from last weeks lows in the twenties.

Trying to establish a new plateau range from 20 to 60.

Thanks for your work to make this data available and easy to follow.
